The Best Costs $$$
I don't own a car. In this pandemic era, I rarely take public transportation. I walk every day 5 to 10 miles, and always with poles. Due to health problems (neuropathy in my feet and legs), I have some trouble with balance and endurance. Especially when tired, I tend to stagger and stumble. Poles help me maintain cadence and keep me on track and moving smoothly.I had an opportunity to purchase these Leki poles at a considerable discount, but still, they were far more expensive than any poles I purchased before. Nonetheless, I'm very glad I did!I use them for balance only, not for Nordic style walking (i.e. propelling me forward). Thus far, I've only used them on city sidewalks and the occasional urban trail. (I intend to take them with me on mountain hikes in the East and West at some point. I'll update this review.)I really like these poles. The first thing I noticed is they're very light weight. They are also well-balanced and the tips pendulum forward as I lift and extend my arms. Their carbon fiber composition absorbs shock much better than my old poles with a 'shock absorber' built-in. This is a feature one appreciates after poling many miles as their vibration can result in numbness and fatigue in the hands. The snap on, snap off cuffs are comfortable and very convenient. After a few tries, hitching/un-hitching becomes automatic. (Unlike wrist loops, the cuffs do hold the pole in the crotch of the thumb and index finger. This may present a danger of injury should you fall forward, especially if a pole is caught in some sort of crevice. This could transmit a lot of leverage against your hand. On very rocky, uneven terrain, I would unhitch the cuffs.)They fit neatly inside my carry-on suitcase! My older poles did not and were an absolute pain to manage on a plane. It's very easy to lock them into position: let it dangle, then grab the upper shaft and pull past the bright red marker til it clicks. The same procedure unlocks them for folding. My only critique is managing the quick lock tension: the knurled tightness adjuster is small and pretty fussy to deal with, especially with a gloved hand - and you will find yourself having to deal with from time to time on your walk. Mildly annoying.BTW: I went without the 'LEKI' emblazoned pole tips at $15/pair. I use generic tips (also steel reinforced) at $10/6 pairs. They work just fine.Very, very expensive, but I recommend them highly.

Great Poles to this First Time Pole User
I did research before I bought these poles. I have quite a number of "easy" miles on the poles and as I write this they have never collapsed (with shaft) nor broken/splintered.Like:--Poles are relatively light; good carbon and aluminum will weigh about the same--Better shock absorption than what aluminum poles might have--this is based on what I read but also experience with an aluminum cane I used for a few weeks.--Poles have never collapsed--meaning slide within itself--similar to how to pole length is set up.--Gloves provided with poles are good in warm weather.Dislike:--When I attempted to secure Leki Griffin S gloves to the poles they would not work because the loop built into gloves was too small; assumed to be a glove defect problem, not the poles themselves.

Great Poles
Very light weight. Fold up and down very easily. Took a bit of time for the gloves to break in, but after they did, these were great poles.

Ultralight weight and adjustable
Got one pair as a replacement. Significantly lighter than anything that I have used including my REI carbon poles. I am not sure if they are as light as the BD Z poles. They should be close. This is adjustable and fully featured. Very happy so far.

Ottimi
