Q: First Ingredient is cane sugar which is dissapointing, how much sugar does it have per serving?

Hello Silvia, thank you for your question. We follow a traditional Ayurvedic formula when making the Avipattikar. This formula calls for Saccharum officinarum (sugarcane) as a main ingredient, and it plays an important role in soothing pitta and pacifying vata. Sugar is also used as an anupan, or a carrier of herbs, which helps the herbs absorb deep into the system and increase their tonic effect. We do not offer Avipattikar without its key ingredient of sugarcane. For a sugar-free digestive blend which supports the elimination of excess heat from the GI tract, you may consider Pitta Digest. In a 1/2 teaspoon of Avipattikar there is 1/4 teaspoon of sugar. Again, we thank you for your question.

Q: Doez this product contain any tree nuts?

Our Avipattikar does not contain any tree nuts. If you are ever unsure you can always check the label. Everything that is in the bag is listed on the label.

Our Avipattikar is a traditional, Ayurvedic formula for pitta (dosha) imbalances in the GI tract. This formula contains the following ingredients: Cane Sugar+, Indian Jalap root (Operculina turpethum)+, Clove flower (Syzgium aromaticum)+, Cardamom seed (Elettaria cardamomum)+, Musta root (Cyperus rotundus)+, Vidanga fruit (Embelia ribes)+, Cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum tamala)+, Ginger root (Zingiber officinale)+, Black Pepper (Piper nigrum)+, Pippali fruit (Piper longum)+, Amalaki fruit (Emblica officinalis)+, Bibhitaki fruit (Terminalia belerica)+, Haritaki fruit (Terminalia chebula)+. Other ingredients, from natural sources: Organic Tapioca Starch. +Certified organic This product is organically grown and processed in accordance with the USDA's National Organic Program (NOP). This item contains no animal products and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Q: Can this be used for vata type to heal leaky gut or should I buy vidanga separately?

Thanks for your great question! Because we’re not practitioners and due to the fact that we’re regulated by the FDA, we’re not able to speak to medical conditions of any kind. We recommend that you work with a qualified, Ayurvedic or healthcare practitioner, to help determine the best course of action for you. Though Avipattikar is balancing for pitta and vata, it is cooling and traditionally used to remove excess pitta (heat) from the GI tract. While this blend contains Vidanga, you might consider a little more of the heating benefits of Vidanga (by itself) and especially for vata. This energetic quality is good for building strong agni and assisting in the proper assimilation of nutrients. You can also strengthen agni with warming spices like turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and fenugreek. If you use dairy products, Ghee is good to lubricate the GI tract and help to balance digestion. We encourage you to do your own research for healthy and supportive, dietary choices.
