I added a heaping tablespoon of this buttermilk powder to my pancake mix this morning and the pancakes were delicious. I don't use buttermilk often, but when I do, it's right there on the shelf. If I bought fresh, half or more would be spoiled before I used it, probably.

I always had leftover buttermilk when I bought fresh and felt pressured to use it up before it spoiled. This dry powder mixes easily and is handy to keep in the cupboard. I gave it four stars because the package only provides instructions for making a quart. I needed half a cup for a muffin recipe today and had to spend some time figuring out the math for a lesser quantity. If this doesn't present a challenge for you, the product is great?

I'm a former pro pastry chef, and a lot of my favorite recipes use buttermilk. Because I live in a rural area, it's not always practical to drive 40 minutes to get fresh.
