It's a very informative book. Kind of long. I had no idea that Romans polluted so much.

Hughes has written a fascinating and important book that provides an essential backdrop to any understanding of classical literature and culture. However, the publisher did a terrible job with the hardback edition. The book doesn't have a dust jacket so the publisher put a big ugly white sticker on the back cover with bar codes and publication information. When I tried to remove the sticker it tore up the cardboard cover and permanently ruined the book.

Bought it for my dad so i can't review the book, but all good with shipping

It was very interesting,the greeks and romans were aware of the human impact on the environment, they did try but did not fully understand.
