High quality set that saves you time!
My kids love a scavenger hunt, but the amount of time it took for me to set up clues was less than fun for me. Between drawing pictures for my 4 year old and coming up with riddles for my 8 year old I was spending way to much time prepping. I picked up the Gotrovo Treasure Hunt Game based on the fact that it had a variety of cards. Pictures with the words on the back, riddles without the answer on the back, and a set of fantasy cards with places like "Mermaid Cove". There are both indoor and outdoor locations that are color coded for the intended use, red: outdoor, blue: indoor, green: indoor or outdoor, gold: role-play and blank cards. This really speeds up setting up the clue trail. The card are water resistant, but not water proof. The game comes with a map that seems like it is made out of the same material that placemats for kids are made out from. I think it is almost indestructible and will last a long time. Then there are high quality Velcro dots that go on the map and the back of all the cards. With 100 cards, the prep work is a bit time consuming the first time. There are 10 gold coins that you can include with each clue card, and a small red bag to put them in. This is great for keeping one child in charge of the map and one child in charge of the coins, but not necessary for the game at all. Finally, there is a gold treasure box to hide the loot. This is a good size box (about 7x 3.75x 2.25 inches inside) that has magnetic closures for the lid. It only take a few minutes to hide the clues through the house, and depending on how well you hide them and how far you spread them out, you can keep kids entertained for a good chunk of time. Now, for the only problem I had with the set: The map is cool, but not very functional. It comes rolled up in a tight tube, so it wont straighten out. If your child was just supposed to just play pretend with it, it would be great. But it's two sided with Velcro dots that you are supposed to place the clue cards on as you find them. As it curls back up, it nocks the cards off and my kids were struggling with it the whole time. My 4 year old said "How about we just bring the cards to you each time we find one?" I decided to risk destroying the thing and used an iron at it's lowest setting to try and flatten it out. This would have worked better and quicker if I had done that before putting the Velcro dots on. But after heating it up and leaving it rolled up backwards for a few minutes, it's decently flat. I think that rolling it up backwards overnight may work or using a hair dryer, but not sure. Obviously, I'm not a very patient person. Looking at the whole set, you could create something like this for little to no money depending on what you have around the house. But, if you lack the time and/or patience to get that done, this is a great alternative. Is the set worth the cost? I think so. The supplies like the map, treasure box, and coins are not necessary for a scavenger hunt. But the kids love them and they are all a great quality. This would be so much fun for a birthday party or any gathering that kids are around! My kids love it and have asked to play it daily.

Fun for all ages
This is a great game. It is a scavenger hunt type game, so I'm sure you could make your own, but this makes it soooo simple. I have a "just turned 7" and "about to turn 3" year old. There a picture clues and riddle type clues so that it is easy for the 3 year old, but also a little challenging for the 7 year old, but they can still play TOGETHER!!!! They had so much fun running around the house searching for the clues. There are a lot of picture cards, but only 30 of the written clues, so I wish there was so more of those, but it is still sooo much fun. The clues are things that you might only have one of, like a washing machine, or multiples, like window. This is great because even if you do multiple games in a row and use some of the same cards, you can just change which window you put it in. It's hard to play a game with both my boys at this age where they both have lots of fun. The almost 3 year old will lose interest, and move pieces, and knock things over, which frustrates 7. This game gave the opportunity to play together for a common goal of finding a treasure together. It was great for everyone!

Engaging Treasure Hunt Game for 3-8 year olds !!!
This was a delightfully game for our 2 grandsons (3 & 6 yrs old). It's fun & encourages teamwork, observation skills & problem solving. Ample riddle clues and picture clues cards are provided so the hunt can be played over & over. We placed 5 of the selected clues indoors and 5 outdoors to maximize the physical activity. We also hid some low to the ground or under things that were often spotted by smaller child. Can be played with multiple variations to appeal to wide range of ages. A 7th grader helped me hide the clues & enjoyed helping the younger kids by telling them when they were getting "warmer". The sturdy "props" of a double-sided map with Velcro attachments and the sack for the coins encouraged the imaginative roleplaying. I've put together treasure hunts for kids many times, but it can be time consuming. This game cuts the prep time making set-up much easier. I highly recommend this treasure hunt game.

Fun and eay way to do an indoor or outdoor treasure hunt!
Great idea! This is really fun, and definitely great for pulling out on rainy days for for parties. Especially if something special is put inside the treasure box they can find at the end! I really like that it appeals to a wide age range. I played it with my 9, 7, 5 and 4 year olds, and they all had fun with it. My one complaint is that it didn't come with spare velcro stickers for the map, and two of the stickers in my box had come off and become stuck onto the inside of the box! So before I even opened it, I was down two stickers. This would be easily solved at minimal cost by providing a few extra stickers.

Buy it now!
My children love to make scavenger hunts, but it takes some work to get clues together... so I researched a bit and found this game. When I say it was a hit, I'm not kidding. It is the most played with Christmas gift! And the adults who are roped into playing have enjoyed it too. There are many ways to make the game less or more challenging for players. My kids (ages 5 and 6) can set it up and play by themselves or it can be made a bit more challenging with riddles- as well as blank cards to make your own clues. I am a Speech Language Pathologist in an elementary school and I am also using this game with my students to work on goals of sequencing, inferencing, teamwork and following directions. It's a wonderful way to get them up and moving during lessons, rather than being expected to sit. I did have an issue with a few missing cards, but I contacted the seller (who is also a mom and creator of the game) and she very promptly responded and sent me a new game! I can't speak highly enough about this game and it's developers. It's refreshing to have such an entertaining, educational and versatile game- all while supporting a small business. You won't regret adding this game to your collection!!!

So much fun!
We bought this game to play at my sons 6th birthday party. We tried it out before hand and it is so much fun. Initial setup takes a little bit of time but is very easy. There are 100 different clue cards that are color coded. Blue cards are indoor scavenger hunts; red are outdoor hunts; green cards are both indoor and outdoor hunts; and then gold cards which are role play cards (ie: go to the mermaids cave); and gold blank cards to write your own clues. After the initial set up, getting the game ready is really easy. There are multiple difficulties on the cards and two different sides to the map. The map is not paper, it feel like a thick vinayl. The only problem we had playing the first time is that the map was curled up and difficult to use. After looking again at the instructions there is a small line at the bottom of the page that suggests using an iron over a tea towel to lay it flat. I would highly reccomend this game and will probably be buying the holiday expansion pack!

This company has a winner with this game!
First, we had to contact the company regarding a problem and we have never had a more reasonable and pleasant experience with a rep...it was actually "personal"! Imagine THAT ! On to the game: The game board is a story in itself with all sorts of imaginative places and characters. All of the parts of the game are well made and sturdy for little hands. The picture cards are clear representations and the riddle cards lead to fun discussions for our 4 year old twins. They loved putting the clues together with things/places in our home (too snowy outside to play outdoors). You could really see the wheels turning! The game is a great way to help kids learn to follow directions and take turns...one more way to have some fun and practice life skills, too. We did put some candies and small treats inside the gold box to sweeten the prize at the end of the game...Highly recommend the game and the company.

Solid & fun but...
I'd almost give this 4 stars. It is a solid idea and my kids did love it. The reason it only gets three is that it is really highly priced for what it is. You're paying for their good idea. ( Also, I was slightly annoyed at how aggressive they were asking me for my review before I really had a chance to evaluate it. I think that happens with reviews. You review it based on a very quick first impression when people ask you to, repeatedly, and don't have the time to really assess it.) In a little more detail, it's a box full of cards. The cards either have pictures (most simple), words or riddles on them. You place them around the house in a sequence such that when they find the card on the "shoes" they know now to go look for the "mirror". They also give you a treasure map and some velcro tabs but these really just get in the way unless you truly are trying to do a pirate theme and want more props. Yes, you could do this all yourself without the game but they do take a lot of the thinking and work out of it for you. That's what you're paying for and it is a great idea! And, the quality is pretty good (nicely laminated cards & treasure map.) But I'd say it's more worth $10 to me, not $30. Lasly, just a note, the inventors don't quite use US. colloquial English. European? I didn't check but their words for a few things aren't what we would use. This isn't a problem for me, actually kind of a bonus. I like to teach my kids that the world is a bigger place...I'm just letting you know.

Who doesn’t love a treasure hunt!
This is the 2nd Treasure Hunt game I have purchased for two sets of grandchildren in different cities. It is easy to play and the little ones love dashing through the house (or yard in the summer) looking for the clue cards so they can collect their treasures along the way to finding the treasure box at the end (which always contains a favourite treat of some sort!). The adults have as much fun as the little ones watching them enjoy their excitement of the hunt. This is a great game for your own family or as a gift - especially for those times when you’re stuck in the house and need to burn off a little energy. Game is well made and worth every penny. Highly recommend.

Super fun and ever-changing with your child/children
We have had this treasure hunt game for over Two years now and still play it at least once a week. We started playing this with my daughter when she was only three and she's almost six now! We started with the picture cards and have now moved on to a mixture of word and picture cards. We live in Canada where the weather is forever-changing. We play in and outside depending on her preference and the weather. I suggest this for any age and any number of family members.

Easy to set up for 4year old
My Grandson loves making up clues and maps for Gramma and Grampa. When I saw this I was excited! Well, so was her, he had 3 friends coming over and couldn’t wait to play it. His little buddies are 4 1/2, 5, and 9. They all enjoyed it. Little non readers used pics and 9 yr old read the riddles. Great fun, using their imagination, no screens. Not over stimulating gobbledygook, which all the commercialized stuff is. Yay!

Kids LOVE it - wish it lasted longer
My kids LOVE this game. It takes a bit of brain thought in laying out the clues (or at least it does in my sleep deprived state), but the kids really enjoy it. They can't read yet, but the written clues are easy enough to understand when read out to them. I don't get the 'gems' component - just seems like something that will get lost, but other than that - really fun. I will say, my older kid started thinking that candy would be found in the gold box - so we started changing the prize to a fun activity instead.

A fun adventure for the kids!
I bought this as a fun way to entertain a 2 year old, a 6 year old and an 8 year old. I used some picture clues, and some of the riddle clues so that the three of them would each get a chance to be the one to figure out where to go for the next clue. They all loved it, and were (mostly) able to take turns, and work together to find the treasure box at the end. I definitely needed to help the 2 year old out so she could keep up, but they all enjoyed it and wanted to play again! I’m looking forward to using this game many times in a variety of ways!
