Great value and solid performance
Just purchased this handy collapsible front rest last week. First trip to the range today. Very easy to use and set up. Well constructed and good quality for the price. No problems with threading on the top plate supporting the sandbag. As another review mentioned, the screw does protrude through the plate and, with long term use, it does seem it could wear out the bottom of the pad, but for this price, I can tape it up if that ever happens. Before going to the range, I used this to support my AR15 while installing an optic and also to support an M1A/M21 while cleaning the bore. Along with a rear bunny-ear bag, this was a very stable setup with the non-skid feet. The top velcro straps were handy for stabilization as well.At the range, fired about 80 rounds through the AR15 and 20 through the M1A, all supported by this rest (I don't have a bipod on the M1A yet). No problems at all and proved to be a very stable support even under the relatively heavy .308 kick from the M1A. I did not use the velcro straps to hold down the rifles while firing. Seemed to me that the straps would simply make the whole light weight stand move, particularly with heavier recoil from the M1A, so I just folded them out of the way. Firing multiple 5 shot groups at about 1 shot per second, getting back on target was quick between shots with no noticeable movement of the gun rest.My range has some wooden rests available, but they're inconsistent and require range users to bring their own sandbags. This comes with a reasonably good sandbag and the adjustable height is great. Add a rear bunny-ear bag to support your buttstock and you've got a nice light weight set up perfect for the range. Glad to have the Vanguard Porta Aim in my range bag from now on.

Perfect for the Range or Shooting Shack!
Works great. It puts the rifle just at the right eye level with easy adjustments, no more awkward fumbling around with the rifle while adjusting, with one hand adjustment and you are in the optimal position to take that perfect shot. Only criticism if there is one would be that it is not as lightweight as I thought it would be, but the sturdiness of the product comes through and that is more important to me than saving a few extra oz's in the bag. The finish is great, only thing I modified was I put a washer and nut on the bolt shaft that comes up directly under the bag. I have read that some people had their bags bust open from recoil. I think that this bolt tip is to blame so I capped it off with a washer and then nut, it works like a dream and have had no issues in leaking material or splitting of fabric on the bag. I would recommend this product to anyone that needs a sturdy rest at an affordable price, this one fits the bill and looks good doing it. I have had multiple people ask me about this at the range, about how cool they thought the adjustment system was and how noticeably easy it looked while I was using it. I agree once you get it set up it is incredibly easy to adjust. Great product would give it 10 stars if I could.

Just as the video shows.
I received this rest this afternoon. It was 99% assembled. All I had to do was screw the rest onto the tripod and the assembly was complete. I am using this with a Remington Versa Max tactical. The only problem is the thickness of the tube and barrel plus the rail. I had to put the straps between the tube and barrel. I am putting a scope on this gun which will raise the sighting from the barrel. I am sure that this will cure the problem of the straps. It is good quality. I actually feel lucky in finding this rest since Remington is more interested in having their logo put on a knife from Bear and Sons instead of paying attention to the accessories that they should be making for their gun, like bipods. I would recommend this rest.Just an update 3/6/2015. I took a good look at this rest in the daylight as I was curious about the ripped sandbag complaint. What I found was that the base screw hole was made by punching the base to make a screw hole and then threading it. This leaves about 1/8" of the sharp metal sticking up into the sand bag. The other problem is the length of the tripod screw which also sticks out considerably out of the screw hole. Combined you have about 1/4" of metal jamming into the bottom of the sand bag.I looked at some solutions but none are entirely satisfactory. One is to thread the base on without the sand bad and hacksaw off the excess screw length and then go over the entire metal with a fine file to remove any sharp edges. You could also try adding a thin piece of flexible metal like soft aluminum over the screw to help protect the bag.The one I will choose is to buy a few fender washers that will add about 1/4' and place them between the sandbag base and the round base of the tripod to stop the screw from working its way into the bag. Hopefully this will help to make the bad last longer.Hope this helps you.

A Fine Revolver Rest
This is a great pistol/revolver rest. As far as a rifle rest, I don't think it is stable enough for that. Having shot actual benchrest rifle competition some years back I can say this with certainty. Better to shoot from a sandbag than this.Pros: Small, lightweight and solid enough for revolver. Even magnum loads (up to .44 anyway) are great for long distance shooting, 100 yards and beyond.Easy to carry in or top of a range bag.Cons: The bag is junk. Mine had a seam ripped and the filling was spilling out. It is too small for and thin to be useful.I wish the legs were a wee bit longer - better stability on a bench.I'd like to see at least another inch in height.I cut a 2x4 and fastened it to the rest, then added some foam rubber temporarily.I'll be getting a leather bag that adds the extra height. If you are looking for a revolver rest this is great with just a few tweaks.
