Johnstone's - Gloss Wood & Metal Paint - Brilliant White - 750ml | Gloss Finish, Interior & Exterior Wood & Metal, Quick Dry & Non Drip, Low Odour, Water Based Formula, 8m2 Coverage Per Tin

I received this paint recently and have had the chance to try it out. I used it on a few painted wood surfaces indoors where the existing finish had become dull and marked, and I was looking for something that would freshen them up without the strong smell that often comes with traditional gloss paints.The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to work with. The consistency is thick enough that it doesn't run easily, but it still flows well from a good quality brush, making it straightforward to achieve an even coat. The non-drip formula definitely helps when painting skirting boards and edges, as there was far less mess than I expected. Being water based also makes cleaning brushes much easier once you've finished.The finish dries to a bright, glossy white that looks clean and modern. It became touch dry fairly quickly, which makes it much easier to complete a job in a single day if a second coat is needed. The coverage was good, although darker areas or heavily worn paint may still benefit from an additional coat to achieve a completely uniform finish. Once dry, the surface feels smooth and appears durable enough to cope with everyday knocks and regular cleaning.Build quality, if that's the right term for a paint product, seems good in terms of its formulation. It mixes well, spreads consistently and didn't show signs of separating in the tin. The low odour was another welcome feature, especially when working indoors where ventilation is limited.My only minor criticism is that, because it dries quite quickly, you need to maintain a wet edge while painting larger areas to avoid visible overlap marks. Taking your time and working in smaller sections gives the best finish.Overall, I'm pleased with it and it has done what I expected.

I am so pleased with this Johnstone's Non Drip, Quick Dry, White Gloss, in 750ml too, as I was really desperate for paint such as this for several reasons.Firstly, it was one of the best value white gloss paint available from Amazon (other 750ml variants cost so much more), and of course it is Non Drip and Quick Dry, and for wood and metal too.The reason I am so pleased, is not just its performance, but many of us, hate, at the best of times glossing skirting boards, banisters, and those fiddly extra bits of wood here and there,but this product was a 'joy to use', and instant results too (that's so important), because results like that "keep us going!". There were initially so many chips and cuts in various parts of the house, and this has really transformed, making me want even more. Thank you again, totally recommend.

Like this paint as it drys quickly and has no smell, it’s a little on the runny side so unfortunately you need more than one coat

This is brilliant paint, goes on so well and easy, no streaks and drys fast and has a nice gloss finish, not really shiny like oil based gloss but a nice subtle shine.Biggest bonus is virtually no smell, with the windows open there's justva very slight distant paint smell. Im really sensitive to chemical smells, normally have to vacate the house or be struggling with my chest and needing my inhaler, with this paint im able to be in the same room and be comfortable. Of course with windows closed the smell is a little stronger but no way as many fumes as normal gloss. Highly recommend

Love this paint, so easy to use, dries fast, a little goes a long way, covers well, glides over surfaces, brushes clean with water and comes off me easily!

This is a good quality, low cost paint. It has no odour and is easy to apply. The brushes are easy to clean after too. A good buy!

I bought this obviously to do some glossing,I opened it stored it and dor what ever reason it didnt thicken ,it was like milk.and after 5 minutes I knew it wouldn't do the job,it also had,well best way of explaining was.bits of sand.i will use it up as emulsion

Got this to paint my wrought iron bench with. Goes on easy and a couple of coats did the trick. Looks great and very smart
