Easy play, elegant rules, so much fun.
WofG is a fun and elegant gaming system. No deck building a la x wing, nor any counter intuitive rules interpretations or updated FAQs.You pick manuvers from the card deck, place them in sequence on your control panel, you place the card in front if the plane, you move the plane. That's it. Adcanced rules can be added a la carte as the players' experience builds.Damage is determined without dice. Damage counters are selected at random and placed face down on the target's control panel. Damage could be 0 or up to 8 with special damage. This removes the feeling of being robbed by the dice (x wing again: six red attach dice all blanks = table flip).Which leads to longer engagements in which planes can have up to three or more passes before an opponent is destroyed. A two-on-two dogfight can be up to two hours. If you liked/loved x wing, you will be amazed at just being able to fly without referencing cards and cascading effects. This is not a critique of x wing (I have many many ships), it s just this is so much smoother and fun to play.

NOT what is pictured
The model is fine. However, I specifically ordered it for the paint job pictured, but as of this writing (Aug. 13, 2019), it is NOT the same. I received the latest version of the Red Baron's DR.1 when I ordered this. Unfortunately, I already had a copy of that from my Tripods & Triplanes order. There have been a few different paint jobs of this particular plane, and I especially like the one currently pictured (an older Ares or Nexus version with a darker red color and a full white square around the crosses on the wings, rather than just a white outline, like the newer one has).Although the accepted the return request I submitted, I'm probably going to just keep my plane at this point. I'll still be out the return shipping, and I wanted more triplanes, so here I am. I should have known, based on the price, that this wasn't the older model, but I'm still pretty disappointed. Also, I notified them of this weeks ago, and they still haven't updated the image, which is misleading, given that the pictured model can be quite expensive to find these days (hence why I was willing to pay a few dollars more than it would have cost me to get another DR.1 elsewhere).

Box damaged on arrival
The box that the game is in arrived with every corner smashed in. None of the contents were broken and all the pieces were in the box, but if you are planning on storing the game in the box it comes in that could be a problem. It is a challenge to get the contents back into the box after a game. Gameplay is essentially the same as X-Wing and Sails of Glory. Very easy to learn and you can teach kids pretty quickly. Even fun for the people that aren't actually playing!

Very Good but could be a lot better.
Is a good game, that could be made a lot better, like mostly all the games like this one. The minis are great, the art work cool, but ...you always will feel like, "come on , lets do it more a little more engaging with mpre audiences" . I liked it and the mechanics are solid but too much of tooo much is not good, the best eay to play it is with simplify rules, period #personalopinion.

Wicked cool game of WWI Air Combat.
As the title of the product suggests, this includes only the rules and accessories to play this fabulous game. You also need to purchase planes to fly. You can get by with only two, but it's a whole lot more fun with 4 or 6 airplanes on the board. As a flying tabletop miniatures game, this game is great because it's quick to set up, quick to take down, allows for flying in 3 dimensions, and there is no meta-gaming. I say this to contrast it to the X-Wing Miniatures game, (which I love), but the latter requires pre-play planning, laborious assembly of your fleet, and intense meta-gaming. Our gaming group has really enjoyed Wings of Glory WWI for its simplicity, fast action and the fact that you can set up, play, and tear down in less than 2 hours.

If you love airplanes...
This is an old school type of game. Not like modernized X-wing, which is appropriate since it’s a WWII setting. The miniatures are very nice, but some pieces like props and struts can be delicate. The bases are nice and fit perfectly over the maneuver cards. This is a game like chess..planning all your moves, and those of your opponent, preparing each move to eliminate them, all about strategy. However, the planes do not really matter...pick the one you like the look of, because these don’t really follow the actual specs of the real thing, they are all kinda similar making it easy to have a balanced game. It’s hard to find some planes. It’s a fun dog fight game. If you love airplanes, you will like the miniatures, but you will not like the lack of attention to the specs of each aircraft, if you can ignore that, then enjoy your strategy and the ability to fly indoors (even in formation), on top of that...people who aren’t into specs will play.
