Parables: The Mysteries of God's Kingdom Revealed Through the Stories Jesus Told

This book gave me a much deeper appreciation for the parables of Jesus and the truths they reveal about God’s Kingdom. Rather than treating the parables as simple stories, John MacArthur carefully unpacks their historical context, meaning, and significance within Scripture. I appreciated how each chapter challenged me to think more deeply about familiar passages and helped me see details I had previously overlooked. The explanations are thorough, biblically grounded, and easy to follow, making this a valuable resource for both personal study and group discussion. If you want to move beyond a surface-level understanding of Jesus’ teachings and gain a clearer picture of the message He was communicating, this book is an excellent resource. It strengthened my understanding of Scripture and encouraged me to study God’s Word more carefully. Highly recommend.

Loved this book by John MacArthur. Very readable and spiritually uplifting.

In this book about 12 of Jesus’s parables, author John MacArthur provides an easy-to-read discussion of the fundamental meaning of each one. The book is concise and provides a clear take away from the stories. For example, in the parable about the seed that falls in different types of soil, MacArthur explains that the point of the story is to recognize that the soils relate to the different types of human hearts who have heard Christ’s message. Those who hear the Gospel (seed) and allow it to change them and reach others have had seed planted in fertile soil. This is an easy example, but the book covers lessons taught by Jesus that have deeper meanings. The chapter discussions are intelligent and thought-provoking. Anyone who has an interest in learning more about the meaning of the Biblical parables will benefit from reading this book.

Great book to learn about the parables Jesus spoke.

Good summary of most of the parables. The prodigal son is covered in a separate book by the author. Overall worth reading.

Well done book. Discusses the parables with a lot of understanding.

John mccarthy is an amazing author, pastor lover of the Lord. I have enjoyed many of his books and gained more insight From reading him, I encourage believers in non-believers to read his books.

I loved this book! This might be my favorite John MacArthur book I’ve read so far! He really helped me understand some of the more challenging parables and relates everything back to Jesus. I love how academic this book gets without getting bogged down! A great read for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of Jesus’s teachings

Received book in good condition. Book is well written. Thank you.

Five stars for the book. The book itself came with minor damage on it (pictured) but I personally don't care, just thought I would note it. This is such a good book. It is immensly insightful, educational, and I highly recommend reading it.

Good book. Straightforward and easy to understand however more parables needs to be added. Must read book for every believer

I understand so much more about the parables after reading this book. I recommend this book.

I now know I didn't, furthermore, I would never have come to these conclusions on my own. MacArthur is very insightful and biblically sound as always. He shares his knowledge and understanding of scripture generously. This is the stuff that money can't buy. The revelation of the Lord God Almighty accessible to the little ones of this filthy, sinful world. Thanks be given to the Lord for it has pleased Him that it is done this way.
