Very poor print-on-demand edition
BUYER BEWARE! The version published by "CreateSpace" is slapdash print-on-demand garbage. I hoped an illustrated version would be good for a child, but I returned it on first inspection. Nowhere could I find evidence of thought or effort in layout to justify any price. Illustrations are small, extremely infrequent, and essentially worthless. Some shameless soul has simply taken LM Montgomery's text, which, as it is in the public domain, is freely available to anyone, and tried to make money selling it. Interested readers would be advised to download a free ebook or pay for a handsomer edition, such as the Puffin In Bloom version. We went with the Puffin in Bloom version and are much more satisfied.

Buy Another Edition, One Which Doesn't Profit a Thief
This is a great book, but buying this edition which Marco Pedulla purports to have translated constitutes buying stolen property. The book was written in Englilsh, so Pedulla has translated nothing. What he has done has taken material free in the public domain and offered it on Amazon.Amazon should NOT support theft.

Bizarre Illustrations
The illustrations are actually random pictures that are creepy since they are in the beginning when Anne meets Mathew Cuthbert so they insinuate a romance between them. And the free audiobook is click bait to set you up to download an app and give your email address to spammers. Screen shots of the "illustrations" below.

Buy another version
This review is of the kindle version of Anne: The Green Gables Complete Collection and does not reflect on the L.M. Montgomery text. The Anne books have always been favorites of mine. Buy the book, but get another edition! First issue: Really random pics grabbed from some art history textbook do not qualify as illustrations. They are more distracting than I would have imagined. Why didn't they leave the totally unrelated images out? Second issue: This is some new definition of complete that I am unacquainted with. This is Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea only. None of the later books are included. False advertising. A text I am being pulled out of by unnecessary distractions. There have to be better options. I am going in search of one.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT if you are looking for a readable version of this beloved classic for your child (or even yourself). This reprint is published through CreateSpace, which is not a bad thing, but in this case the publisher simply typed in the story as massive blocks of text with very narrow margins, lines as close together as possible, and few paragraph breaks. I am an avid reader, and I normally do not worry about white space on a page, etc., but this book was typeset/formatted in such a way as to make it unpleasant for me and unreadable for my ten-year-old. She had enjoyed my aging and dilapidated copy of this book so much, that she wanted her own copy. The first thing she asked when she saw the book was, "What's wrong with the cover?" It was completely blurry and totally unprofessional. When she opened the book she said, "Mommy, I thought this was going to be like yours. I can't read all this." I found that particularly sad since she sometimes has doubts about her reading ability, and since she had already read this same book in a better format. She was so disappointed by this book. If only I had checked the publisher more carefully. Hopefully, this review will help save someone else some disappointment.

This is the edition you are looking for
I wouldn't begin to rate the story itself. It has stood the test of time and is still beloved. This, however, is a beautiful edition. It is nicely bound, perfectly sized, and has a classic yet updated vintage look. If you are looking for a copy of Anne, pick this one.

Tender portrait of a very special girl. (AmazonClassics Edition)
Serendipity in a Canadian night, a little waif that was not meant to be find by the Cuthbert siblings. Instead of a boy they find a small girl, a fantastic chatterer with so much fantasy and creativity in her head. Bit by bit she turns the small Avonlea in a kind of personal Camelot. This book is about Anne as a child till she is a teen. She is quite adorable, and her world is fortunately not a harsh one. The author dims the light in male characters, in the positive side it allows the thoughts and events of Anne and girls like her, and the women that teach her or care her, to be seen with a pure female perspective, which to me is refreshing as mostly I read 19th century literature of adventures, in which the characters tend to be heroes in a society in which modesty seemed to separate the genders a bit. It is not negative but natural as a consequence that the men and boys are like a kind of distant ghosts; when they meet terrible ends or sad events is difficult to feel sadness or even interest. I am sure the next books in the series will have more characters of the opposite gender but I wouldn't feel it as special as this one with its pure feminine world. For other side I am not much fan of realism, as Anne herself I like more fantasy, so the personal rating. This is an excellent and book about a wonderful character; there is not cruelty or suffering to spoil her search of happiness, Anne is unforgettable and, as her adoptive mother Marilla felt, I'd wish she had not grown up. The only literature I had read from Canada is a magnificent poet that writes about her natal Montreal, I am happy to have found Lucy Maud Montgomery to know more about that enigmatic country.AmazonClassic editions are in my opinion the best for books written originally in English language (for books written in foreign languages the translations could be a bit outdated) Anne of the Green Gables is professionally formatted and helps to read with comfort, the typography is modern and the always helpful X-Ray function is there to check characters or places. For some mysterious reason AmazonClassics editions don't put the original date of publication, but fortunately here it is in the little biography at the end of the book. What makes AmazonClassic Editions my favorite is that the book has no studies, prefaces or introductions: it is as pure as the author intended it, as if it had been published today.

Box capa dura

Beautiful stories and eloquent writing
I had always thought of the Anne of Green Gables as children's books. They are not. The author is brilliant at helping the reader see the world through the eyes of children. She has the rare gift of making a thoroughly good character, Anne, interesting and complex. Anne's resourcefulness had me in tears on many occasions.Through the series we see Anne grow up and have children of her own and experience and cope with life's ups and downs. The author loves her characters and Prince Edward Island. The latter is almost a character in the books. Her descriptions of the island and its woods, flowers and fields are lyrical and poetic. There might be a bit too much of this for some modern readers but it is a price well worth paying for some beautiful stories and eloquent writing.I loved it.

Não me arrependi. A capa é magnífica. Muito bem feita, colorida e encantadora como é o livro.Paguei muito barato e chegou rápido, sem nenhum problema.Recomendo 100%

The First Anne Shirley Story
First published in 1908 and reprinted so many times since, 'Anne of Green Gables' hardly needs an introduction as many people, even if they have not read the book, will at least know some of the story through the television adaptations of the novel and its sequels. Therefore, briefly, L.M. Montgomery's children's novel, which is set on Prince Edward Island in Canada, tells the story of eleven-year-old auburn-haired orphan girl, Anne Shirley, who arrives at Green Gables, the home of Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert and, despite not being the boy they expected to adopt, nevertheless wins the hearts of the Cuthberts - and, indeed, all of those around her. With a cast of sympathetic and interesting characters and filled with all of the adventures (and misadventures) that the highly imaginative Anne encounters, this little novel was one that I read several times as a child and loved it, but not one that I have read as an adult - therefore, it was with some trepidation that I began rereading the first book in the Anne of Green Gables series. Well, I needn't have worried, because although I understandably didn't feel quite the same way about the story as I did when I read it as a child (and it's full of homespun philosophies and tales with a moral to them - which may not appeal to some readers today), I still very much enjoyed this little book and found it a heart-warmingly nostalgic read.4 Stars.

You’ll be whisked away but these aren’t the only books in the series (please read on)
Having watched the Netflix series, I was keen to read the books cause I felt it should have been in my life when I was much younger. It doesn’t feel like you’re reading children’s literature except I suppose, in House of Dreams, as Montgomery shields the reader of harsh realities of death. I did still cry though, I think it’s a beautiful story told about a girl with “so much scope for imagination.” I adore Anne and feel she deserves the same spotlight as other classic literary characters (in the UK anyway). My only gripe and it’s regarding what I purchased. I’ve just finished the 4th book in this set and researched the author to find there are more in the series and what is packaged is the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th books! I’ve just bought the 4th and the other ones (seriously, do your research Anne with an E fans) cause I just want to be back in that universe.
