SportRack Hitch Rack Locking Knob with Bolt, One Size (SR0018)

I gave it 5 stars because I assume it will work for its stated purpose. It was the other review that triggered my purchase

Modified to fit my Sportrack 2 Bike Hitch Carrier. This was not for my model but I removed the back and took the bolt out and in place of the bolt I put a nut in the hex recess for the bolt head that fit the carriage bolt. Works perfect. In fact I ordered a 2nd one for the other arm. I am also going to take them to a locksmith so I can have one key.

Says it fits models that it doesnt.

Not a complicated item. This does what it's advertized to do. It does fit the Thule system, though it's not made by Thule, it's made by SportRack, just for clarity. Engaging the lock make the knob act as a normal, fixed knob would. Turning it the other way has the knob spinning loosely, so it can't engage the screw/bolt pillar. Simple. Effective as an inconvenience lock, though a determined thief with power tools can make short work of this. It's good for the price. The bolt threads are 1/8" x 15

I had to dissemble my old and new units. The one i received did not match the thread pitch for my bike rack, but it was easy enough to take apart and swap parts between the two

Bought this to lock our ladder to our travato. The lock works great, after the screw it came with was replaced by a trip to Lowes. The original screw did not work for the Travato ladder.

I bought 4 of these to use for various pieces of hardware I have on my truck. I use these lock knobs to quickly attach andremove custom bike brackets, scuba tank brackets and Kayak brackets, depending on which sport I have my truck configured for.The keyed locks make it difficult for anyone else to remove the gear.

The lag bolt in this locking knob is 3/8th inch hex. My Sportsrack uses a 5/16" carriage bolt size. I removed the lag bolt from the knob and used a 5/16 inch hex nut as suggested by another comment. Because the outer dimensions of the nut was smaller than the 3/8" lag bolt head, I surrounded the 5/16 " inch nut with heat shrinkable tubing. This provided a nicer fit for the smaller nut size. I would have bought a different knob but not knowing the nut size in a female knob, left me with the decision to follow the lead of the other commenter. Thank you to that person.

Doesn't mention thread size (3/8ths). Does not fit Thule Spare Me Pro (5/16ths). bolt housing needs to be tapped.

Awesome product however the second one never made it so had to cancel it.

Started out working very well but in a few months it ended up seizing up and became very hard to use without first spraying rust inhibitor on it. it did keep my bike safe though, sometimes even from myself.
