Nice introduction
Is a well written very organized and complete introduction to the key concepts of "the body". The interdisciplinary approach really makes it interesting.

Concise and thought-provoking
This book is undoubtedly the best introduction to body studies. While very short, it covers many different theories, some of which are very complicated. Blackman's book is considerably easier to follow than many of the writers she discusses. It's an excellent resource for discovering what other people have written about bodies.

informative
very informative, on my reading list for LCF, a lot of contextual analysis and information, a very good and insightful read!

I had to return it
I buy about 5-6 books a week from Amazon. I study, research and publish in this field, but I regret to say that this is a book that I have returned. I don't know where to begin: it is flat, dry and uninteresting. An absolute drab! The level of the theories used is extremely superficial, derivative, generalised. It is practically unreadable. I would accept this as an undergraduate essay, nothing more.

Awful
Dreadfully written - there are decent sociological theories behind all her wordiness but it seems like she put as many words in as possible to make her seem clever. It's practically unreadable
