This book was profoundly beautiful! I felt the spirit SO strong while reading it the past couple of Sundays. The author's way of writing just cuts straight to the soul. She does an amazing job of removing herself from the spotlight so that true learning can take place. I have so many favorite passages highlighted I hardly know where to begin, but one that struck me with particular force was this one:"An interesting thing I've noticed about miracles is that they seem to happen repeatedly to those who believe in God's power to do them. God doesn't intervene miraculously all the time. But the people I know who have seen one miracle can usually cite multiple instances of God's manifest power in their lives."I just can't recommend this enough for anyone who is looking to perfect their relationship with the Holy Spirit, and God!

This is a comprehensive book for anyone who wants to learn about the gifts and workings of the Holy Spirit in what the author calls "everyday believers." Susan Rohrer contends that you do not have to be a preacher, teacher or evangelist to be used by the Holy Spirit. She also encourages ordinary Christians to step out in faith and ask for the Lord to equip you to do ministry.I like that the author carefully defines each Spiritual gift--both what it is and what it is NOT. This helps people see the difference between what God gives and what Satan counterfeits. Susan gives examples of these gifts at work in her life and those of close friends. She also references Scriptural examples.I don't agree with the author's interpretation of the River of Life in Ezekiel 47. She also tends to belabor her point about God using everyday believers. I think this makes the book way longer than it needs to be.If you are a new believer and want to discover what more God has for you, this would be a good choice. If you are new to the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement, this is a nice, non-threatening book written by a person from a non-charismatic background. This would also be a great resource, if you have been walking with the Lord for some time and want to go deeper with Him and learn how to become better equipped for ministry. Pastors, lay leaders, and other ministers should read this. It would be a good book to use for personal study or in a small group or Sunday school setting. Read it prayerfully, and get ready for God to open your eyes to new possibilities!

Susan Robert has a personal writing style which makes her seem to be a friendly neighbour.She writes with sincerity and determination for her readers to understand the Holy Spirit who resides in everyone of us. I have always questioned who or what this gentle but mighty force that we have been given really is ..Susan guides the reader by sharing personal examples and supports her discovery with moving and enlightening passages from the Bible, a book I thought I knew but found .out differently.You will come away feeling reassurance that you have a wonderful gift that God wants you to celebrate and share with others. Discover the loving spirit inside you and your world will change.

I was raised in churches that taught the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still important in today’s world, therefore I grew up with the expression of the gifts as normal. However, for years I lacked solid teaching regarding what I was seeing take place. As a result, throughout my life I have read a number of books about the Holy Spirit and the gifts, but this is absolutely my favorite. This book is written for the layman, but its clarity is a model for the ordained, as well. The author is humble, transparent, and gracious in her biblical explanations and in relaying personal experiences. I highly recommend this book to the curious and experienced alike.

I absolutely love this book. It's now one of my top ten in Christian teachings that explains what relationship looks like and how the holy spirit works. Beautifully written and so full of knowledge. Confirmed so much of what I've already experienced on my own journey with the Holy Spirit and I look forward to all that I haven't yet. I will definitely read this more than once and look forward to reading book 2.

My small group studied this book and I LOVED it! We are now going through the second book. I was intrigued but unsure when we started the study. My background is very similar to what the author shares her background was, not growing up with experiencing the Holy Spirit and any power gift. I tried to delve into it a little in high school and college, but came away from those charismatic church experiences uncomfortable and skeptical. One thing I loved about the book is that every time I felt skeptical or wary, Susan voiced those same concerns at the same stage in her journey, so I felt validated in my own journey. Then those questions were followed up with Scripture. Lots of Scripture. This book answered so many of my questions in a simple, loving, direct, biblical way.

Susan Rohrer's book, The Holy Spirit: Spiritual Gifts for Everyday People,! is profound. Though it is a very meaty book with thought provoking concepts, it is easy to read. It is filled with scripture references as well as personal experiences by author and others. It covers much on the Holy Spirit as well as the gifts of the Spirit in detail. I learned much on a head, heart, and spirit level. Since I tend to underline copiously in pencil when I read this type of book, I wish I had purchased a hardcopy since I will most likely reread it. I have recommended this book to several friends.

This book is so great that we are using it as a ladies book study in Atlanta! These women so love it that they are also highly recommending it and giving it away. It doesn't matter what your churched or unchurched background is, you can easily and repeatedly find yourself in this book. Susan takes your hand and securely walks you not only through a solid scriptural trail of understanding but backs it up by her personal experiences as well as others. It's an easy read and written from her warm heart. It would make a great Christmas, birthday, baptism and graduation gift. Treat yourself!! You'll be so glad you did!!

Wow. For months I've felt the Holy spirit wanting to reveal himself in me and what part he plays distinguishing himself for me. When I came across this book I thought oh another invitation the basics of the Holy spirit but this book is far deeper than that. I'm 28 and I have a deeper connection to recognising Him, His giftings and advices thanks to this book. What I love the most about this book is the encouragement to confirm things for yourself via the word of God and always staying constant to referring back to the word of God. I've never felt more empowered. My husband keeps saying he sees such a change in me now. The month of reading this book, I didn't realise that although I spoke tongues I was fearful of it. Imagine I have moved into a new level of tongues like never before. I used to think only time set apart for God is the only time with God. I understand now that every second of every minute I can be in constant relationship with Him and so I pay more attention now because I am aware by my actions, His holy spirit can also be grieved. Sarah, thank you so much for availing yourself to Him. My dullness is being removed and the earwax is coming out bit by bit. I look forward to one day by His grace, hearing Him audibly :D! I love you Sarah with the love of Yeshua 💖

A must-read if you want to know more about the works of the Spirit. Susan has inspired me to have faith in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, affirmation that the dreams I have had since my confirmation as a Christian were the Spirit speaking to me and courage to open my heart to accept God's messages and follow the path he leads me on.

This was an amazing book to read. Book came promptly and was in v good condition. The author looks at all aspects of modern life and relates them back to scripture, with explanations and meaning.Would recommend to Christians looking for interpretations of our current day life through ( not heavy) scriptural readings. Her view is so clear on many topics

Simple, clear message - God wants us to be in tune with his spirit to enable us to deepen our relationship with Him.Excellent book for reminding us to pay attention to developing our spiritual lives.Great explanations. Illustrated with examples of the spirits revelation.Highly recommend this book.

This book is a must read for everyone who is serious in their walk with the Lord Jesus. It is essential for all new Christians, but a good reminder for those of use who ought to know these things. My Christian walk started with this understanding of the Holy Spirit, but it many years since I found a book that is truly useful in explaining and training in the person of the Holy Spirit.
