Updated... Still Perfect for My Application !!!
Update: I've been using this bag for seven boating seasons... It hangs on my boat exposed to the elements 24/7 from May to October & exposed to salt water use... In seven years it has faded a bit & the motion of wind & waves has caused a small rub on the reflective material but the bag, black nylon strap & buckle all function perfectly... at six yrs of exposure I purchased a new line at Lowes that made a perfect replacement due to some deterioration/ wear in the line... I think I only paid a couple bucks for new line & now use the old line around the house when I need a thin rope for something... Overall, even with the exposure I subject this to, this bag is still 100% funtional (with the new line from Lowes), although faded a bit... highly recommend this bag... Note, I do use this differently than intended (read below) with the bag staying attached to the boat & a throw ring being thrown into the water... Original Review: This Scotty Throw Bag has been hanging out on my boat for an entire season attached to my Cal June USCG Approved Ring Buoy (20- Inch Diameter, Orange) which I purchased here on Amazon. It works perfectly for my application, and just like the ring buoy, after 6 months of direct exposure to the elements (including salt spray), looks like the day I purchased it. I'd need to have it side by side with a brand new one to see if it faded in color, but it sure doesn't look like it has. In tests with the ring, it worked smoothly and reloaded nicely. The materials this is made of seem to be very durable, the top closure works well, the reflective band is cool, the price is great, etc. As with all similar devices, I hope I never REALLY have to use it, but if I do, my tests show me I can rely on it if/when needed. (p.s., In my power boating application, I use this in reverse of the way I use a throw bag when I'm kayaking. On my boat, the bag represents the bitter end and is secured to the boat. The loop end is instead attached to the ring buoy. I am using the bag to neatly stow my rope & the rope spools out with the ring as opposed to normal use in canoe/kayak rescue. Although this is the opposite of how most folks will use this bag, for me it works very effectively and safely for this application as well.)

An important safety item.
I wanted some kind of rescue device on my kayak and this fits the bill for me. I like the bright orange. I threw it on dry land and it throws very easily and far. The quality feels good. I feel confident that it will do the job if I ever need it. And I like Scotty products.

Good to go!
Take this with you bcuz "IF" you or your group ever needs a rescue.....and YOU didn't have anything to throw and possibly save them........you're going to feel it for the rest of your life. Good quality rope. Easy to deploy + toss. Cost effective.

Easy to throw
2 year review: the bag disintegrated after 2 years out in the sun on the boat :( Easy to throw and stuff and hang on boat. If your on the fence about 70 vs 50 ft, I think 70 would work cause 50 is easy to throw that far. Just remember if you’re using it for recreation Thats 40% more rope to pull in and stuff each time

Great quality!
This was a replacement purchase for one that got stolen. This throw bag is great to tuck into a boat, and keep for emergencies. Also good for training on how to use a throw bag.

On the water? Get one.
I’m rating this five stars not because it’s anything amazing, but because it’s exactly what it claims to be at a reasonable price. This is one of those pieces of gear that could be easy to leave behind or simply not purchase to begin with because it’s likely you’ve never needed one. Having been through a life-changing kayak incident, I now have two strobes and two whistles attached to a top quality PFD and never paddle, even solo, without a throw bag and fresh water attached to my PFD. Buy it, Practice with it occasionally, and hope you never get to use it.

Don't Swim Without One !!!
I bought 2 of these. One for my ex husband and one for myself. DON'T PUT YOURSELF IN A POSITION WHERE YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR HELP. DROWNING HAPPENS IN SECONDS. These bags are durable and easy to use. They are bright orange and have a reflective strip. Easy to use. Practice dispensing it before hand. Swimming season is upon us. Even if you swim in a community pool with a life guard, get some of these bags. I cannot recommend these enough. Better to be safe than sorry.

Great quality for the price
I am just getting into paddle boarding and Canadian law required the use of a whistle, PFD and Throw Bag when out on the water. This was the cheapest throw bag I could find to fulfill that requirement. Surprisingly enough, it feels very well built. Thick line, and even has a reflector built into it which is nice. The bag throws easily and in the video, I cover how to stuff the line back in and what the black strap is for. Was pleasantly surprised as it feels like a quality bag, I was expecting less.

Good quality
After watching a lot of reviews on these throw ropes I decided the Scottie was the one for me, not the cheapest but in my opinion certainly the best value for money that I have found, I think everybody who carries out an activity in or near the sea should carry one of these bags it may save your life or somebody else's, it's small enough to fit in the front pocket of my dry sack ready for action if needed all in all a great value product would definitely buy again or recommend to others.

Funcional
No tengo queja alguna sobre el producto, la use para un curso de cañonismo y me fue muy util para arrastrar personas fuera del agua, es resistente y fácil de manipular.

That’s my bag baby
Great quality. Nice throwable weight and quality line. Highly visible and sturdy bag material with quality snap close clasp. Update: to comment on negative reviews of the bag quality deteriorating around the clasp... i have had no issues with this. My bag has been hanging on a fishing boat deck for two summers but is kept out of the elements and is in almost new condition still except dor some colour fade. Allowing nylon or any material to get dirty , rot and get moldy doesnt speak to the quality of the bag. Always dry out the bag and contents after they are used or get wet.
