Handy resource
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a first time landlord, no matter your rental space (room, apt. garage, etc). There is lot of valuable information that can benefit anyone with little or no experience as a landlord.

Good information
Explains well and provides real life examples and online resources. I am a realtor and found this book quite helpful. Highlights the important things and reminds us not to let our feelings about other or first impressions get in front of our decision-making. Highly recommend.

First-Time Landlord: Your Guide to Renting out a Single-Family Home
Outstanding book, well written, very informative, organized for easy retrieval of subject matter. I highly recommend this book. I purchased 3 copies of this book to help my son's with their inherited property.

Good info, but not well written.
Iʻm having to spend a lot of time flipping back and forth in the book because single topics are covered in different parts of the book. I had hoped that the book would provide more of a step by step guide, but apparently thatʻs not what the author intended.

Not Good for Details on Tax Implications
Nice, easy, readable book written at a very low level. What I was looking for is something about handling the taxes...IRS rules, etc...how profits and losses are reported. This isn't that at all. But there is some useful info in here.

Outdated
I'm a new landlord and bought this book because so much has changed in the real estate world. I wanted to get the most up to date info I could find. I bought this in paperback because I wanted to highlight parts that I wanted to do more research on. The date of publication was October 2020 and it said it was the 5th edition and was updated. This book reads like it was printed in 1990. It still talks about accepting rent as cash or check even though no one uses cash or check now-a-days. Moreover, it recommends advertising in the local paper. Who does that anymore? NOBODY! No mention of any online resources or payment processes. No mention of software or web sites that could help you. This is fine if you want to know the bare basics. It is definitely old school.
