A few years later…
Paula did great! I love using this little gem and it’s so handy to use the amount of salt or pepper you want without shaking and shaking and shaking! It’s very well made and looks cute sitting on top of the counter.

Beautiful.
I bought one of these awhile as a splurge gift for myself. I keep my sea salt in one side and kosher in the other. My mom used to tell me when I was growing up that learning to be a good involves a lot, one of those was learning how to season. Season being not only the use of synergistic herbs and spices but the appropriate amount of salt to bring out and marry all the flavors. Being a visual person, I find it much more helpful to see and feel how much I'm grabbing, as opposed to a shaker.I do feel that this is an appropriate size and I think it helps with being able to get and maneuver your hand and fingers around in the compartment when your salt or seasons get low. I did rub a little oil around the outside on the wood just to give it a little more of a sheen, but I'm not sure it's necessary. It's smooth and the lid opens and functions well. I ended up cutting a few tiny felt circles out of some spare fabric and hot glued feet for stability on slick countertops, especially since you can't really hold this to get what you need and pushing it around on the counter can be tricky sometimes.I wanted a visual so I googled a video before buying. Of course it's Paula advertising the product, but it'll give you a size comparison for some common kitchen items. You can google "Paula Deen Salt Box" and click to videos, should be up there.Edit: I forgot to mention that the little knob that covers the screw was missing when I received it. I called amazon and they gave me I think it was a 3$ discount on the item. If noting else, I can make a piece or find a piece to fit to cover, but it's still gorgeous just the same. I honestly love it without or without.

Lovely and so very well made!
This lovely salt box has found a permanant place of honor in my kitchen. On the counter? No, but in my corner cabinet to the right of my stove settled happily on the built-in turntable inside. Here I can merely flick the round lid to the side with one finger to open, pinch out some kosher or sea salt (in two carved out half-moon pockets) and sprinkle. Then, using another flick of my finger, the top slides closed, using an inset magnet to keep the lid snug.Simple, elegant and endlessly pleasurable to use and admire. The wood reminds me of Oregon Myrtle wood. The salt box is a bit big to set near the stove for my kitchen--5 3/4" in diameter and almost 3 inches tall. I would also be concerned with oily spatters that could possibly make unsightly spots on the surface. Also looks just wonderful on my walnut dining room table. I hope I remember to bring it out at the holidays. I think this would work with many home interior designs from Modern to Cabin and Cottage to Transitional. I will keep this forever.

Good little product
I have been watching Paula deans quarantine cooking and she inspired me to purchase this item. It is made well out of real wood. The two compartments are adequate to put a good supply of salt and pepper. My only issue with this is it’s a little hard to open it you basically have to hold the bottom while you open the top. Perhaps if there was a small little handle on top of it might make it easier. But short of that I absolutely love it and it looks really nice on my kitchen counter

Great Kitchen accessory
Good cooks season their food, bad cooks don't. Watch the cooking shows on the food network and you will see both types. We used to season using shakers and grinders for salt and pepper, but that was not the best way and the implements themselves were hard to keep clean. The Paula Deen box is a great answer. There are two compartments which allows you to put salt in one, pepper in the other. It is very easy to use. Open the top and the seasoning is right there for you. The size is perfect and the box is very attractive. I use this box every day - don't know what I would do without one. It is most useful and the price is reasonable.

Surprisingly big
I had bought, a while ago, another salt box made of bamboo, and it was only a couple inches across. It was certainly large enough for getting my fingers in to grab a pinch and not feel cramped. I don't know what I expected with this one, but it ended up being more than twice as large as I expected. Each compartment will easily fit about a half pound of salt. With this in mind, I am finding that this salt box is more of a "tabletop" item than a "kitchen" item. I have limited counter space in my kitchen, and this, being around 6 inches across, occupies too much stove-side real estate. It looks great though, so I have no problem at all having it in the middle of the dining room table and doubling as decoration and functional salt container. The only problem I have with it is that the hinge is VERY loose, and when the lid is turned completely open it sags pretty significantly down. I'm afraid that some day very soon, even with casual use, it's going to pop straight out. I guess when that day comes I will see how it's attached in the first place; it might be possible to just pop the thing back in and not worry about it too much. Might be something a small drop of glue might fix as well.Anyway, I guess I am with quite a few other reviewers, having not looked at how big it was. But I'm actually really glad it is as big as it is. Great price, great value, doesn't add that funky smell that bamboo salt boxes have to the salt.

Exceptional Quality and Beautiful Design - Perfect for any Kitchen ... Paula scores 10 again!
This beautiful wooden salt and pepper keeper is awesome. The quality by far exceeds our expectations. It may seem large but this was intentional in it's design and provides great access to salt and pepper when cooking and preparing dishes. Convenience is key in the kitchen prep area and this great 'keeper' is all that and more, and a side of butter!Paula scores 10 again and it's obvious why she allows her name to this product and others, their quality can't be beat.

Looks nice, be careful not to mix the two sides!
I use my for salt and sugar. I have once had an overflow of sugar add to the salt. Overall no problems with this box. Pricey at regular price, I got mine on sale.
