Not too long ago my dog had a cyst in his mouth and the vet went ahead and removed all of his remaining teeth. Even being toothless and a smaller dog he gobbles this kibble down without issue. His stools are consistent with each poop being firm yet wet. He also licks himself less frequently (see picture of him on my lap) as he would lick himself compulsively to the point of developing red streaks his legs. This food contains probiotics, MTC's, and glucosamine all of which are important ingredients to have for older dogs. The probiotics help to strengthen their immune system and improve digestion and absorption of nutrients. The MTC's are a fatty-acid derived from vegetable oils that studies have shown to help cognitive function in older dogs. Glucosamine is a compound found in cartilage that can help dogs with hip and joint pain. I recommend you give it a try, especially if you have an older dog that seems to be declining cognitively. There's really no reason not to since it's affordable, highly rated, and widely available both here on Amazon and at pet stores.

My older dogs loves this food. The kibble is smaller and easier to chew, which i like for my dog, and she seems to enjoy the smaller kibble. I also make sure I have a case of the Purina Pro Plan canned food on hand...I mix in a bit of canned 1x per day. My dog loves the food with or without canned included. Her coat is shining, she seems to be shedding a bit less, her eyes are bright and she does seem more alert. She is 12 years old and has had the "zoomies" twice this week! I was really trying to focus on high quality food for my dog, I think I've accomplished my goal with Purina Pro Plan Senior Dog Food. The added bonus is when I order from Amazon, it is delivered to my front porch. This makes my life so much easier. I recommend this dog food for a senior dog.

I’ve been feeding this Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind formula to my senior dog for a while now, and overall I’ve been pleased with it. One of the reasons I chose it was because of the focus on senior dogs and cognitive health. I do feel like I’ve noticed some positive changes in my dog’s alertness and behavior, although it’s hard to say with certainty whether that is directly from the food or simply part of his normal ups and downs as an older dog. My dog generally does well on this food, and I like that it includes probiotics and is specifically formulated for senior dogs. His digestion has been good, and I feel comfortable feeding it knowing it’s from a well-known brand with a solid reputation. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that my dog can be inconsistent about eating it. Some days he cleans his bowl, while other days he doesn’t seem very interested. That could very well be because he’s getting older rather than an issue with the food itself, but it’s worth mentioning. Overall, I think this is a quality senior dog food and one I’d recommend to other owners looking for a food designed for aging dogs. While I can’t guarantee the cognitive benefits, I feel good about the ingredients and have been satisfied with the results so far.

When I took my newly rescued elderly Doberman Pinscher to his first veterinarian visit he was 20lbs overweight and sluggish. The vet told me to reduce his food intake drastically (2and1/2 cups a day) and told me to get Purina Pro Plan Plus dog food for dogs 7 years or older. It is pricey but a little bit satisfies their hunger so it goes a long way. I feed both my older dogs this food and they love it and are thriving, lively dogs! I’m very pleased with this product despite the cost.

I have a 12 yr old Boxer mix. I've always stayed clear of Purina kibble products, but recently tried this 'Pro Plan Senior Dog' product to hopefully help with his arthritis. My Boxer has always had what I call 'peanut butter poop' since he was a puppy. I was pleasantly surprised when his poop became 'regular - firm' with the first bag (now on the second 30lb bag). I will stick with this product for the rest of his life.

My senior dog has been on this brand for 6 years. Never had any issues.

I like the content of ingredients in this dog food and the fact that the total ingredients are geared to our eight year old dog, a Labrador, and there is no waste byproducts in the food or cheap fillers. Our previous dog was a very large Newfoundland and her manure waste was less than many of our friends dogs that were a hundred pounds, or more, lighter than her. She lived till she was over eight years old and her heart was struggling to pump because of fluid. It sounded like a washing machine sloshing through the soapy water. Many large dogs that work cattle like our Newfoundland did don’t live past 6 to 6.5 years. With our current 92 pound Labrador he is in perfect health at this time with no indication of breathing problems or muscle/joint problems. We are on a 7 week automatic refill program and being up in our 70’s we don’t have to go buy the food and haul it out of the store, into the Jeep, out of the Jeep, into the house. So one time moving this large bag is so much easier on my wore-out joints and the convenience of the auto-refill would be worth a lot more to me than it would be to a person that didn’t bale hay, haul feed, get up and down hundreds of times on the tractor in a typical day.

Purina Pro was recommended by my vet several years ago. I was paying for really expensive and what I thought was high quality food, turns out it was not. I tried Purina Pro, my dog actually ate it! You can rotate flavours so your pet doesn't get bored. Know she is a "senior dog" but you wouldn't know it! Best decision ever switching to this affordable, convenient food option. Comes right to my door and often goes on sale!

This is quality dog food that the seller is selling at an over inflated price. I'm shocked that Amazon is allowing this considering the same product is advertised with a different seller at half the price on Amazon. My error in not paying attention to the quantity as it is dog food I have ordered previously from Amazon at a very fair price. The seller is unwilling to compensate and frankly I am shocked that Amazon allows this to occur.

Our dog loves this food. The kibble is smaller, but since he chews his food it isn't a problem. At 9 and a half he is still very energetic and has lots of pep when running loose. It also appears to be very digestible judging on the output we pick up.

Kaia eats this one. She is 12 years old & I think that it helps her over-all mental state.

we noticed a change after few days that our 14 years old dog became more active and happy. highly recommend for older dogs!
