The Ultimate Anne Murray

I have this C.D. ~ Love it ~ and find it to be an Excellent listen. Many of Murray's album tracks have always been some of my all time favorites. I saw Murray in concert singing 'Blue Finger Lou' and 'Everything Old Is New Again' (later not here) dressed up in a ladies coat tails ~ webbed hose ~ top hat & cane ~ She really had some great shows back then. But even before I saw that concert I had the album ~ Together ~ and had immediately loved those songs ~ they're up-beat ~ catchy and just plain excellent. This collection contains 8 top 5 hits ~ the remainder are excellent album tracks. Here is listed the first album the song was on ~ many eventually were included on later albums/collections. 1. A 20 track compilation CD from EMI Records Europe gives a nice offering of hits and albums cuts. Anne's first big hit, "Snowbird" flew to the top of the Adult Contemporary charts in 1970, where it stayed at #1 for 6 consecutive weeks. The song also became a top 10 POP and COUNTRY hit as well. Other number 1 hits included here are, "Daydream Believer", "I Just Fall In Love Again", "You Needed Me", "Now And Forever (You And Me) and "He Thinks I Still Care". Anne shifts gears a bit and tackles a remake of Doris Troy's hit, "Just One Look". The results are remarkably incredible. Defiantly the best remake of the song I've ever heard. The remaining song selections are fantastic, including Anne's awesome versions of "Killing Me Softly With His Song" and "I'll Never Fall In Love Again". "The Ultimate Anne Murray" offers a versatile sampling of her Pop, Adult Contemporary and Country hits accompanied by well selected album cuts . All songs included here were recorded in 1970--1993. After listening to this CD, you'll understand why Billboard ranked Anne # 10 on their list of Top 200 Adult Contemporary artist ever.

Anne Murray has been on the scene for decades and it is easy to hear why. Her voice is soft and mellow and easy to listen to. This album is good for those who are too young to have heard her back in the day, and a great recap of her career.

Lovely voice and very hartfelt songs. This is a very complete album, all of the best and most popular songs It is a very good addition to my collection of her CDs.

Album because I have very little of Anne and she is now retired. Before the CD's get scarce I thought I would buy a few. I have always liked her voice and this album does not disappoint.

The quality sounds a bit cheaply produced. Done in Canada years ago. Nice, but not Anne Murray at her best.

It met my expectations. I just love Anne Murray and her voice and song selection. I highly recommended it for anyone who wants to listen to good old established songs.

Reading some reviews about The ultimate Anne Murray Cd, and the amount of covers she has done, taking songs from previous albums, instead of her own material, its understandable that some reviewers are unhappy with it. Anne has been recording for a long time now but without the success that she deserved on a world stage, and therein lies the problem, with the record companies, and the greed that has long been endemic within this business, and usually to the detriment of the original recording artist. Sometimes singers like Anne Murray, and many others, do more than justice, to a song that's a cover of another artist, and this,will then sell records. Many famous, long standing artists have done this for years, mixing their own songs with old and new, and have made a success of it. It makes the record companies richer and keeps the artist in the business. I think this album is a classic example and I like it. Hope this review was helpful.

I bought this recording for my wife as it contains several recordings that she likes, and it is a very good record. I also bought another recording by this artist "The Best so Far" and this also another good record both are well worth owning and my wife and I are pleased with both recordings.
