Well written takes you back to the early 1900's.
The book is well written and the author description of the territory, the local people, the horses, donkeys, environment, cavalry life, Mexican revolution is great. He had a love for animals, people, and the scenery. His story telling keeps you interested. Chapter 8 is tough, he has first hand account of the Porvernir massacre of innocent Mexican-Americans at the hands of murdering Texas Rangers.

Interesting Read
This is a typical local history of interest to local people and to specialist completist collectors. No grand analysis here.Just the stories of individuals caught up in hostilities, most of whom preferred to be let alone.

loved it!
excellent read. This book is a treasure as it is written by someone who was actually there. Historical accounts and anecdotal evidence are seldom without prejudice for their side of the tale. Usually, each retelling and re-writing of any historical event results in a dilution or glorification. I believe this author did his best to tell his story as it actually happened.
