Great River Organic Milling Organic is a national treasure helping save this country providing clean organic, non corrupted wheat. Flour I've bought here has made a world of difference in my life. It's clean feeling and tasting, feels great and is loaded with nutrients. Oh and these 25 pound bags while purchased through Amazon Prime is a great value too. Y'all out there need to stop buying corrupt "modern wheat" and buy your wheat from Great River Organic Milling Organic. Also learn how to make your own flour from the grain - you can get a low cost kitchen grain mill here on Amazon or a high powered blender for even more powerful essential nutrient getting through your flours. Great company. Thank you guys for being there when trying to find quality organic wheat at a good price was getting very difficult.

Great River Organic Milling, Organic Whole Wheat Bread Flour, 25-Pound Package This is the third bag that I've ordered from Great River since last year. I've been baking bread using their organic whole wheat bread flour and my wild yeast since last year and it's always given me great-looking (nice rise and texture) and great-tasting breads. However, ever since we started using this bag, the result has been nothing but disappointing. At first, I suspected everything but the flour (I had a lot of faith). I kept on tweaking every detail until it dawned on me that something may be off with the flour because the dough would ferment well but it's lacking the rise as before. And my doubt was confirmed by a few recent comments as well.Now, I have to figure out what to do with a huge bag of flour that doesn't perform.Update January 2017 - This is an update from the previous three-star rating. I'm glad that I took a leap of faith and decided to give this brand one more try. I have to say that the recent bag that I purchased is of the best quality out of all 4 bags over the last 2.5 years. The difference is immediately noticed when the dough shows obvious life (I hope you know what I mean if you bake). I've made bread twice so far with 100% of this flour (and wild yeast) and have been extremely satisfied. Good flour gives confidence in knowing how the dough will react to different conditions. If the quality stays this way, I will recommend this product with no reservation.

Delicious Wheat Bread From The Machine!
Very nice flour to use in the bread machine! I stirred 1/4 cup of honey into 1 1/2 cups of lukewarm water and poured that into the bread pan, and sprinkled on 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast. As that sat with the yeast beginning to work, I measured out into a bowl 4 1/4 cups of this whole wheat flour, and added 1/2 heaping teaspoon of salt to that. Then, I poured two tablespoons of vegetable oil into the water mixture, and put the whole wheat flour and salt I'd measured out into the bread pan. On the machine, I chose the two pound loaf size, whole wheat setting, and dark crust. This took 3 1/2 hours in the machine. This loaf should be removed and allowed to cool with one edge propped up slightly to allow moisture to escape to avoid sogginess. This bread sliced nicely and made lovely sandwiches with a surprisingly light texture.

THIS is what wheat should taste like
I got my flour today and immediately made a loaf of my "simple bread" (flour, water, raw sugar and yeast). I knew something wonderful was happening when the bread rose to nearly twice the volume of the store bought "organic" WW flour I had been using. And then as it baked the kitchen was filled with not just the rich deep aroma of the wheat, but subtle light notes of cinnamon and even molasses.. AMAZING.Out of the oven.. cooled for as long as I could wait.... THIS is why REAL ANCIENT ORGANIC PURE WHEAT FLOUR BREAD is called the staff of life... the texture is akin to a carrot cake texture with the springiness of yeast bread. Tender, moist and layer upon layer of flavor...... I've been baking for many years and I have NEVER tasted anything this amazing... THIS IS FOOD!!! This is not just something to make a sandwich with......A NOTE TO SENSITIVES AND DREAMERS: When I eat most bread I see an image of wheat berries being ground into flour..... When I ate this I saw WHEAT ALIVE AND WAVING IN THE FIELDS.......

Gritty flour
The flour is gritty. Made 3 batches of bread. Every other bite, you could feel gritty. The grits are so fine, no way of screening. Wrote to the manufacturer. Supplied all the info. No response. I am now stuck with about 20lbs gritty flour. ******** update: It took a while, but finally got a replacement bag from the manufacturer, which shows they do care about the quality and customers. So increased to 4 star

The best organic wheat flour
This is the best organic red wheat flour we have ever had so far. Even better than the one we used to make with our own bread back in Europe. May God bless these people who are behind this company Great River Organic Milling. Chicago loves you! I already had five other families (my friends) who placed their order just this week after seeing this whole wheat at our house and the bread we made out of it. Thank You! Thank You!Edit: April 1st 2023! Just within a week, this went up $8. If this continue to raise, no matter how good it is, I’ll stop buying it. It doesn’t make sense raising the price like this!
