Absolute Silence from Desk Bumps and Vibrations
The Setup: I use the Rode PSM1 Shock Mount as the essential bridge between my Rode Procaster and my Rode PSA1+ Professional Studio Arm. My signal chain is extremely sensitive—running through Triton FetHeads into a Pyle 12-Channel Mixer—so any mechanical noise would be amplified. This mount ensures my Tascam DR-60D MKII recordings are deathly silent. Why the PSA1+ and PSM1 are the Perfect Duo: The Rode PSA1+ is a heavy-duty arm, and when you add the weight of the Procaster and a FetHead, you need a shock mount that won't sag or slip. The PSM1 is built like a tank and holds the mic exactly where I position it. Mechanical Silence: The internal springs of the PSA1+ are already quiet, but the PSM1 adds that final layer of suspension. I can move the arm mid-podcast or type on my desk without a single "thump" entering the audio track. Rock Solid Connection: The M20 threaded nut provides a much more secure fit than universal clip-in mounts. It feels like one solid piece of engineering once it's all put together. Performance: The isolation is incredible. Even with the gain boosted by my FetHeads, the floor noise from physical vibrations is non-existent. It gives me the freedom to move naturally during a live show or while taking phone calls through the mixer without worrying about handling noise. Final Verdict: If you have already invested in the Rode PSA1+ and a high-end mic, don't bottleneck your quality with a cheap mount. The PSM1 is the foundation of a professional, "dead-quiet" studio.

Works fine with a PROCASTER, despite others' complaints
Works perfectly fine with a RODE Procaster microphone. I did notice a sag initially, but if you just pull on the upper bands to increase tension, and give some of that slack to the lower elastic bands you can move the inner ring up and it's fine. Other reviews say the Procaster mic is too heavy for this, but for me it works absolutely great. Nice isolation to prevent receiving the bumps of the boom arm or the desk. So ignore the other naysayers, this is a solidly-built shock mount made specifically for RODE microphones, and if they can't get their Procaster or PodMics to work (two heavy microphones), they're doing it wrong. My RODE mic is quite happy within this shockmount.

Not compatible with Rode PodMic USB
I'm sure this product is fine, but I read a review somewhere (not here) that it was compatible with the Rode PodMic USB and it is NOT. I just wanted to let others know in case they read the same review.

Great product - reduces noise that comes from holding the mic.
I bought this shockmount for use with my Rode Podcaster, and I have not been disappointed. It connected easily to the On Stage DS7200B Adjustable Desk Microphone Stand, also from amazon, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002M3OVI/ref=cm_cr_ryp_sol_prd_title, and the Podcaster screws on securely. I can now record voice, singing, music etc., without having to hold the mic. When I hold the mic, every movement gets recorded, so this shockmount is a great improvement, and at a great price too.

Well made, poor delivery
I was completely shocked in the way this product was shipped and handled by Amazon. Absolute garbage! That is the only reason this is getting 4 stars and not 5. Clearly the product was just thrown into a bag and was mishandled the entire time. Fortunately, this showed the quality of the product and how well made it is. With all the abuse it took, the only visible damage is on the corner and even then it is minimal. My Rode Podcaster mic is long and heavy but the PSM1 Shock Mount handles it just fine. The mic does hang forward just a little in the mount but I think it is well within reason given its size and weight. The lighter and shorter Rode mics will have no issue staying centered in the mount. Overall I am happy with the shock mount but very disappointed in the delivery from Amazon.

Does the job, and does it well
The job of a shockmount is to hold the mic securely, and to keep from transmitting vibration into the microphone. By that standard, it does the job superbly. By any standard, it's well worth the price of purchase. Used in combination with a good microphone boom arm and the Rode Podcaster or Procaster, this thing is golden. I would not get the one with the integrated pop filter. It's not that I don't recommend using an external pop filter, because I do use one. But the shockmount with the integrated one looks like it puts the pop filter in the wrong position. With the Rode Podcaster or Procaster, you need to speak right into the end of it because of its proximity effect. You need the pop filter directly in front of the end of the mic.

Best for the Podcaster
I ordered the RODE Podcaster and needed a shockmount that would work with it on the first try. I could have found a cheaper third party solution, but to be honest I wanted my Mic to have the products that were designed for it. That's why I went with the PSM1. It's got a perfect fit for the Podcaster and Procaster mic's. No real complaints from it thus far. The shockmount is made from metal and seems very well constructed. The area that connects to the boom arm is plastic and it could strip if not careful, but so far it's been the right choice for the Podcaster.

This shock mount is sooooo much better than the other cheap one I have. Also, although I bought it for my Procaster, it works perfectly with my Rode NT1 condenser mic from the late 90's.
