Great Refresher for QB64
Since QB64 is based on QBasic, and QBasic programs will run in QB64, this book is great to refresh me on the basics of QBasic (and QB64), as I haven't written a program in QBasic since 1991!I have QB64 running on my MAC, Windows XP, and Linux Mint machines and it creates executables on all platforms, it is my main cross-platform programming language that allows me to protect my code (unlike Python, which I need to provide the source code, giving up control over its use).QBasic By Example provides a solid framework so if you do switch to QB64, there will be no learning curve. The foundation it provides for even someone who hasn't programmed in BASIC or any programming language will be solid, and help learning more advanced languages as you grow as a programmer.

This book was written by Greg perry, who had several books on the QBasic language.
This book is further along than the "Absolute Beginner's Guide", by the same author. It too was copyrighted in 1993, but goes more in depth on the QBasic language. If you use this book, as I am using it, to program in the latest incarnation of that language - called QB64, you will get a good basic understanding of QB64; but, know that some keywords are not supported in QB64. You can download QB64 at QB64.org and learn the differences, and have some fun finding the differences. I'm using it to reprogram a game I had built in the QBasic language, and now must change a few lines and entries, so it will run in the new QB64. Above all; have fun.

Enjoyed it so much
This manual comes from a public library and has been read by hundreds of people. It still has the library stickers on it and is still in very good condition. I love it!Really for beginners easy to read and complete. I'm a seasoned QB programmer and this reminds me of how it all began. Great memories, wondeful manual, well written, step by step approach.Another great "QUE" manual. I own quite a few of them and enjoy them all.

Download Qbasic
I bought this book. I would like to practice Qbasic on my win 7 64 bit PC. But every site I goto has my computer security saying its a malicious site. Can someone help me?

The only QBasic book I can recommend.
After going through many of the QBasic books that you will find here, this is the only one that worked for me. If you are still a novice, like me, then I recommend you go through this book first. It gave me the basis I needed to understand all the other books.

Outdated book, but valuable for some uses
The book itself is the "learn by programming" which works for some people and not for others. The others is mainly looking for answers for there problem which this bokk probably will not give you. However if you are inituative and can see outside the box you learn a lot of programming from the book and it is from the most basic to advanced topics included. The book is totally outdated since qbasic is replaced by visual basic. I however find it useful when I use an old scrapped PC which I build over to control units for all and everything, from alarmsystems to ROV control, even industrial control systems. Is it for the hobbyist... No not anymore, but for those few who still uses DOS machines it is a great tool

I needed to relearn and was happy to find this book was still out there
This is the book that helped me fine-tune my skills when I was in data processing back in early 90s. Somewhere along the line, I sold it. Then 20 years later, I needed to relearn and was happy to find this book was still out there! Between it and a version of QBasic for 64-bit computers, I am back writing data-handling apps.

Good book for the money.
Good book, and it arrived in the advertised condition. A useful reference book for Qbasic programming, especially if you have not done any Qbasic programming for a while.
