This book is great, written by a hunter that went to Africa in 1890. It's loaded with stories of a time when Africa had no detailed maps, and hunters had to use their intuition to seek out game or seek tribes that had knowledge of local game, hopefully tribes that were friendly to outsiders. From almost dying of thirst, to almost being trampled by charging game, to narrowly escaping from the Lugwara Tribe, this book will keep you entertained of a profession long-gone.

Thoroughly enjoyable account of the author's adventures in Southern Africa at the turn of the century. His writing style is very good at times humorous and never boastful or superfluous. Enjoyed it so much that I read it in one evening! highly recommended.

Pages in poor condition looks like book was left in the rain but still readable.

Great book, must read.

Not the page turner as was Death in the tall grass and other Capstick influenced books.
