Keracolor Color + Clenditioner, Semi-Permanent Hair Color, 23 Shades

Left is in the sun this weekend with full grey and greenish formerly bleached and crazily colored yet washed out ends on display, Right is after 1 wash with Color + Clenditioner by Keracolor Espresso. I'm only sharing because since I'm so sensitive to so many chemicals now I'm really glad this stuff works like it does. I actually used their brightly colored ones when my hair was bleached and they worked so well that's why my ends occasionally look multicolored if I'm not using the brown now. No ammonia, no lift, only color deposit. And it makes my hair feel really nice, which is so good because my ends get dry and tough and tangly really quickly without good shampoo. If you're looking for a bit of evening out of color or just to tone down some greys without really harsh hair dye, this is good. And don't believe the other reviews. You don't need to do anything other than wash your hair normally, then apply this like you usually would conditioner, rinse in normal time. Repeat next time you wash to keep fresh. There's no need that I've seen in more than a year of using their colors on blonde and brown and grey hair to do the "glove up and add to dry hair for 30 minutes while covering with Saran wrap then shower" nonsense that people suggest. It's not hair dye, you don't have to go to such trouble. This is the darkest one I've used, and the first to leave any color in my shower too, but have no fear, it can't stain porcelain, it will merely stick to the soap scum already there. Spray on some scrubbing bubbles and ignore til it's gone.

I made a mess of my hair during the time hair salons were not allowed to operate in my state due to the pandemic. My hair is naturally dark brown with some pure white strands. I had bleached it blonde over a year ago and was slowly growing it out while having the roots dyed to match my natural color. Just before the shut down, I'd had a dark red Manic Panic professionally applied but wasn't in love with the color (too orange). So, I washed it out as much as I could and then used temporary color to try to achieve more of a magenta/fuschia color. I liked the magenta so I then used a permanent version of the color. The permanent color ended up lightening the portion of my hair near the roots that had not previously been colored dark brown and also faded rather quickly from the part of my hair that had been formerly bleached. So, at this point my hair had like 4 different bands of color. I consulted with my hair dresser and ended up having her try to get my hair to an overall, even, dark brown. She warned me that the red left in my hair from the Manic Panic would be extremely hard to color over and would likely show through the dye, which it did. So, I decided to try this product. I was pleased to note that the Espresso has a greenish base, since green cancels red. I've been using it for a month or so and while there is some red still visible, particularly in bright light/sun, this product has seemed to tone down the red. It's really easy to use, smells good, and leaves my hair feeling great. I was worried that the color would run when I sweat and/or transfer to clothing, bedding, towels, etc. While I can see a trace of the color when wiping off sweat or makeup, it doesn't leave weird looking streaks down my face and neck like the Manic Panic did and hasn't transferred to my clothing or my white sheets. It has stained my tub and shower chair a bit, but it cleans off easily. I'm glad I decided to try this out.

My graying hair is very very gray in the front, but mostly very dark on the rest of the head. Regrowth is SUPER noticeable after permanent dye. My stylist said we can "just add some platinum highlights and it will blend right in".... holy 2002, batman! My hair is very dark brown, almost black, and the upkeep on platinum highlights is, frankly, way beyond my price point, in addition to not being a look I aspire to. This espresso color is a very dark, cool brown, so I mix 2-3 pumps of this with 1 pump of the auburn color, and get a nice neutral brown tint on my silver strands that blends into my natural color and looks a bit like balayage as it fades. Note: I am not using this as directed. Just putting this on in the shower would be a slow process and not catch all my roots, so about once a week I glob this on DRY hair, wrap my head in plastic, cover it with a bonnet and putter around for 3 hours before rinsing. Does it need to be 3 hours? I dunno. I literally pulled that time from nowhere and it works so I kept doing it. Is it messy? Ummm....in comparison to what happens when i use permanent dye at home, no. Otherwise...I think it depends on how clumsy you are. I am VERY clumsy, so I do have to clean stains from my skin and the bathroom sink, but soap and water take it off skin and a bathroom cleaner with bleach takes it off the sink. I try to shampoo twice a week or less, I use As I Am cleansing conditioner or Tap Secret powder dry shampoo on the non wash days. Both are holy grail products for me. Is all this a very complicated way of avoiding ammonia fumes and damage from constant permanent dying and/or bleaching? Of course! Does everyone have three hours a week to spend with their head wrapped in plastic? I'm guessing probably not. Will the process of eventually going completely gray be INFINITELY less traumatic than if I was growing out gray roots under permanent dye? Why yes, thank you for asking. If I don't refresh the color, it slowly fades away until the full lengths of my silver strands are silver again. No damage, no elaborate, expensive mix of highlights and lowlights, just time.

Edit: I recently reordered Espresso and I'm not nearly as happy with it as the first bottle. While it deposits color just fine, at least with the way I use it, the color is more brassy than the last bottle and my hair feels more weighed down. Maybe it needs to sit in the closet for a year first like the last time? Original Review: At first I wasn't impressed. I washed my hair with this a few times, following the directions, and saw little noticable difference. So I set it aside and ignored it for awhile. Then, a few months back, I decided to try it again, but this time I ignored the directions. And, after a little trial and error, I've come up with a method that works really well for me. First, I wash my face to remove any oils on my skin around my eyebrows and hairline. Then, even though this stuff is a "shampoo and conditioner", I wash my roots with a clarifying shampoo first. After rinsing that out, I apply a thick layer of the Clenditioner across my hairline and roots and even my eyebrows (taking care to avoid getting it in my eyes!) and run the rest of what's on my hands through the length of my long hair. Then I let it sit for a minimum of 10 minutes while I wash the rest of my body and shave my legs, etc. Finally, I rinse out the Clenditioner and immediately wash the area around my eyebrows and hairline with a little more regular shampoo to remove the purple stains on my skin. (Yes, it will stain your skin a little bit, but shampoo takes the stain right off.) However, I try to wash ONLY the skin and not the hair or else I lose some of the color I just put in. 😕 While this product does condition a little bit, I also apply conditioner to my hair from about mid-length to the ends for a little extra moisture boost. I find that the Clenditioner alone is enough for my roots and scalp though. I can see a noticeable difference after just one wash using this method, but the color builds up after several consecutive washings. Once it's as dark as I want, I switch to using the Clenditioner only every other wash or so. I know this sounds time consuming and complicated but it's actually not that bad. I'm a busy mama and have no patience for anything that takes a ton of time and effort, yet this method works well for me. Probably because I can multi task while letting the Clenditioner do it's job. 😄 My only complaint with this product was the busted pump on the bottle. I ended up just removing the pump and pouring the shampoo/conditioner into my hands directly from the bottle, then putting the lid on it but not yet securing it. (It's hard to screw it back on with slippery hands without losing most of your expensive product in the process!) Once I'm done showering, I screw the pump + lid back on.

This product will make your hair fall out terribly. I purchased this in both espresso and red. I used the espresso to maintain my dark vibrancy and red on occasion to balance the color I was going for. As far as color deposit, it worked great. It made my hair exactly how I wanted it. So, I used it for a long period of time and went through an entire bottle. However, around that same time frame using this, I had noticed my hair was falling out in clumps. At that time I thought maybe it was stress. My hair fell out so bad that it actually appeared like I was balding. My hair was thin and scraggly, always falling out in clumps, and my scalp was exposed to a point I could no longer even hide it with hairstyles. It got so bad I began using expensive hair loss treatments. For the treatments to be efficient, I had to stop using this product. Over the next 2 months, my hair was coming back full and beautiful. When I combed my hair, very little fell out. I could finally brush my hair without it covering the comb each time. Again, I thought my hair loss was stress related at that time. Since my hair was back to it’s original fullness, I decided to try using this product again so I reordered. After ONE use, I combed through my hair with my fingers and i was back to having clumps of hair falling out. That’s when I knew it wasn’t me, it was this product. I threw it away. Both the espresso and the red. I have not had issues since. Please pay close attention to your level of hair loss if you decide to use this. If you notice clumps coming out, don’t blow it off. It is the product that will cause your hair to fall out.

I color my hair once a month but, the last week is always rough with the faded red/orange tint look. I tried using the Moroccan deposit mask, and what I didn't care for was you had to put it on dry, clean hair, and even using it for the past months, I just never saw a big difference. So, I started looking for a different product and I am a huge review reader and saw so many positives on this item so, I decided to try it, and oh wow! I was not disappointed. What I love is that I use it as a conditioner. The color I use is the Espresso, and I can not say enough about the color and how my hair looks so refreshed. Around my hairline where the pesky white hairs are, I dab an extra amount on just to give an extra boost. The product smells really nice, and my hair is very soft from using it. The color washes away every time you wash your hair, so keep that in mind as well. If there is anything negative to say would be that you definitely want to wear gloves when putting this on because your hands will be stained, and the shower, well, just be prepared to see stains and scrub it off as quickly as you can. I am very pleased with this product and will absolutely keep buying it.

😖 I purchased the “Espresso” color. I’d say I’m a medium brunette, undyed currently (dyed hair has since been grown out/cut off) and the “Espresso” definitely pulls red. I did a test strand on dry hair for 15 min and it was super subtle and only slightly darker and seemingly less brassy, but not red. So I applied all over for 20 min and the red was MUCH more obvious and quite a bit darker than the test strand. It was more of a dark chocolate vs cool espresso… if that’s what you want, go for it. It didn’t feel damaging and my hair is pretty silky right now. It also did a decent job of making it darker… darker than I initially planned but still. I could also be to blame, or at least didn’t look closely enough, but when I look at the product pictures now and the before/after chart on different shades, the afters do look like they have red tones. So if anything…. believe the chart, expect some red warmth to your brown hair and do not assume it is a neutral or cool espresso like a majority of espressos out there. TLDR: product seems healthy enough for hair and very conditioning, but the espresso is a reddish brown.

OMG, how am I only finding out about this product now. As someone with dark brown/black hair who is allergic to hair dye and find the whole Henna/indigo process too long and tedious, this has been an absolute godsend. I’m not trying to cover my greys totally. I’m just trying to dull down the bright silver of it. This product does exactly that. No allergies (touch wood), no faffing around, just pop in on to dry (or wet) hair, wait 15-30 mins and rinse it out. That’s it. I absolutely love this product.

There is no color at all, the color immediately goes away once I washed my hair, total waste of money
