I've moved full-time to my mountain cabin, due to the pandemic. For 30 years I never had AC, because I was only here for a week at a time, and I could handle it. But now, I need it! Especially with the heat waves that have been scorching New England. The house retains heat (a winter plus) so at night, even when it cools down outside, the inside temperature is easily 10-degrees hotter, even with all the windows open. No way to use window units here, so I bought two GE portable air conditioners - a big one and a small one. I ordered both sizes of these Portable Air Conditioner Sliding Door Vent Kits, and I could not be happier. The first one - the 5" kit - was my learning curve. Even so, perfect! The second kit - the 5.9" was a breeze, so to speak. They fit my AC hoses, and my sliding glass doors perfectly. I took the advice of the other reviewers here, and used my own weather seal - for me, I chose the FrostKing EPDM D-Profile Self-Stick Weatherseal - 5/16" Wide by 1/4" Thick X 17' long. Two of those packages were just about enough for both kits. For security I cut a 1 X 2" and dropped it in the jamb - perfect. Seriously, these kits work, they look good, they fit tight, and they're easy to install. I love 'em. I do have an improvement planned - because since the vents open out onto my deck, I'm going to put some dryer vent screen over the hose opening - to keep critters out of it. But that's it! So as the temperature and humidity climb today - who cares? Because I'm comfortable as can be. Thank you!

easy to assemble and very affordable

This plastic extension kit for portable A/C comes with 2 outer plates and two inner plates, and you connect them by using the provided butterfly screws. The kit also includes a 5.9” adapter for the exhaust hose and a roll of air sealing tape that is 3/8” wide. Putting it together is easy. It is just a matter of extending the plates until you have the right length for your door. The maker has a good instructional video on how to do it on the product page. My only problem came when it was time to use the adapter. The end of the exhaust hose turned out a tiny bit too large because it has a plastic ring (to which the A/C window adapter attaches); therefore, I couldn’t use the adapter that came with the kit. I resolved the issue by sliding the vent panel that came with my A/C into the vent plate of the kit and then tape the two together. It may not look very professional but it works. The extension kit is on the lightweight side so sometimes when it’s windy, it dislodges itself from the door. I didn’t use the air sealing tape that came with the kit. I bought a slightly wider foam air seal tape from the local hardware store. Even with the tape on, there are still thin gaps because the inner plates are slightly narrower than the outer plates. But I’m okay with that because this extension kit has proven to be a good alternative to trying to put two window kits together to cover the length of a sliding door. And It certainly looks better too.

I am so glad I had purchased this kit. It really helped keep the heat and humidity out. My A/C on the North Wing of the house died and went to A/C heaven. It was in the middle of a hot and humid summer in Southwest Florida.

We unfortunately do not have Central Air and are saving up for it. This helped us so we could keep our kitchen/dining area cool. It was super easy to put together, and we can easily remove it at the end of the day so we can close our door for the night. Because of the foam provided, we got a pretty good seal. We choose to place it on our sliding door track so that it also uses the seal from our door/frame. Obviously, with it being 4 pieces of plastic, it can get a little flimsy the longer you have to extend it (so those closer to the 220cm/87inch will notice this more). But other than that, I'd say it's a great choice if your sliding door is your best option for exhaust.

This does not fit a BLACK+DECKER 14,000 BTU Air Conditioner Portable for Room up to 700 Sq. Ft., 3-in-1 AC Unit, Dehumidifier, & Fan, Portable AC with Installation Kit & Remote Control. The hose size is correct at 5.1 but the adapter from hose to panel is too small on the panel side, the hose does connect. I had to force the panels from the A/C unit into this one in order to not have to return it. It works and looks fine, just not ideal.

I tried three different vents before coming across this one and yes, more expensive but it's more expensive for a reason. It's a very high-quality with great instructions and easy to assemble with all the necessary items, including HVAC tape to seal all the little open areas would definitely recommend recommended buy again.

I dont have any windows in my room so i needed an attachment for the balcony door. It is a little flimsy, but with enough securing it works great. The weather tape provided kept peeling off, so i just bought my own and so far it has stayed secured. I put a strip on both the attachment and my sliding door, as well as a few pieces behind the attachment to keep it from wobbling. I recommend you get some double sided mounting tape to secure it even more. I used the 5.9”attachment for an A5407-8K air conditioner.

I used this on a sliding glass patio door so it has to extend over 6 feet and remain in place. This is made of much heavier plastic than the smaller window panel that came with our portable AC. It easily goes together, remains firmly in place even when I open the door to let air flow when it is cooler outside. Because it is made of 3 sections that fit inside each other the width varies slightly between the inside and outside panels which can leave a slight air gap. An extra length of foam tape would solve this problem if you're worried about a bit of air leak in either direction. A good, solid product worth the extra money.

This fit’s really well in patio door looks very smart very well made we are very pleased with this . Would fully recommend.

Lo utilice para instalarlo en una puerta corrediza de 192cm de altura, ya que el kit que venía con el aire acondicionado no alcanzó. Tuve que cambiar la salida del aire por la que viene en este kit (muestro ambas en la foto) y se adaptó perfectamente. Es un aire acondicionado LG modelo LP1419IVSM.
