My Initial ThoughtsI wish I was Avery! Fancy just becoming a billionaire and you have no idea why! The cover is beautiful but those quick snappy chapters had me flying through the book.PlotThis plot is something! So many puzzle elements and trying to click them all into place. The dangers that come with the territory, have you questioning everyone but I loved the diversity of the brothers, none of them was the same and all had completely different personalities. Its quite fast paced so keeps you hooked until the very end.CharactersThere is so many different personalities and characters to keep you interested throughout. I loved how level headed Avery is no matter what happens. I also like Nash, maybe because he just seems the broody nature type 😆 Also Jameson made me giggle with his nicknames for Avery. This book seems to be everywhere at the moment, I don’t have TikTok and even I knew about it. I approached this book with some trepidation as I'm not sure how highly I rate the general “TikTok made me buy it” quotes but it was 99p so I purchased it with an open mind.The Inheritance Games is the first book in a trilogy following Avery Grambs who has inherited a billion dollar fortune from a man she has never met before. After her mother's death, Avery had been living in her car and sometimes with her sister Libby and we meet her as she is approached by strangers and told she's needed to attend the reading of the will of Tobias Hawthorne. At the reading, it is revealed she's now the heiress of a multi billion dollar inheritance with the catch being that she needs to live in a mansion for 12 months and must allow the family of the late Tobias to reside there too, including his four grandsons. The house itself is huge with secret passageways, different wings, a bowling alley, theatre, library's etc and Avery can't believe it's all been left to her by someone she's never met. Avery and the grandsons of Tobias are all left with a letter from Tobias with a cryptic message that they must all decipher.As I said, I had low expectations for this book which is why I enjoyed it so much I think. It wasn’t an amazing read but I was on holiday when I read it and it was a perfect quick read for that (I read it in a few hours). Avery as a character was fine, I think she probably needed a bit more fleshing out, we are made to believe that she is genius level but we never really get that I think. The love triangle storyline was not great to be honest. Avery barely spent any time with the boys but is in love with them anyway, it was also very predictable. The boys themselves were fine but also nothing new really. I was intrigued by Nash and I expect we will find out more about him as the series progresses. I enjoyed the puzzles and the twists, these were very clever.Overall, a good holiday read but nothing groundbreaking. I’ll probably pick up the rest of the series at some point.

Avery has to follow through with a set of instructions if she wants to claim her inheritance. Avery finds herself thrown into family politics, trying to solve the riddle of why Tobias Hawthorne left her so much money. All the while, trying to avoid the four Hawthorne grandsons, who are angry at being left out of the will.Overall, this was an easy comfort read! I read this in one sitting as there were clues throughout that meant I needed to find out the ending as soon as possible!The book is full of strong personalities, and a range of characters which I just loved! Avery is never sure who to trust as everybody in the Hawthorne House has a motive for wanting Avery gone. Jenifer Lynn Barnes does a great job of bringing together interesting characters and having them all link to the overall plot, rather than just throwing some characters in just for the sake of it! The plot constantly keeps you guessing, which is one of my favourite type of books.There were hints of a potential love triangle forming between Grayson and Jameson, which does make me want to read the next book when it comes out! Barnes manages to answer most of the questions that you’ll have in the book, but leave enough unanswered to make you want to read the next one as soon as it’s published!

I bought this book almost 3 years ago and I put off reading it because I knew I would be hooked and I was right. I instantly went and bought the rest of the series.This book hooked me right in with the likeable characters and the absolutely addictive plot!Definitely recommend!!

"Everything's a game, Avery Grambs. The only thing we get to decide in this life is if we play to win."I will start by saying that, when this book was released, I had zero interest in reading it. Over time, I have seen so many people reading and reviewing this series over on Goodreads, that my mind was changed!4.5 stars, rounded up.This was a really quick read! I was engaged immediately and the short chapters made it very readable. Having said that, the length of the chapters (or lack thereof) was rather jarring to start with, and took some getting used to. The reason I rated this 4.5 stars (as opposed to 5) was due to the predictability of the plot. I didn't guess everything per se, but when certain characters emerged, I gathered that they would be important to the plot in some integral way.The characters were fantastic, especially the four grandsons."They were a twisted, broken mess before you got here, and they'll be a twisted, broken mess once you're gone."This book had the potential to be a character driven book on the strength of those four alone. However, I am very glad that it was not, and that there was a plot. I feel we have only scratched the surface of the Hawthorne brothers, and cannot wait to find out more as the series progresses.I'm torn as to whether to read The Hawthorne Legacy #2 yet, or whether to wait, as the third (and final) book, The Final Gambit, is not due to be released until August 2022.

This is one of those series you could reread every year and have it be just as interesting everytime.I'm not a huge mystery reader, and the huge romance subplot heavily sways me. I love how just everything is connected in this book, every little hint and it's shoved in your face without you knowing until you learn one fact and then everything in the past becomes an "Oh my god, why didn't I pick up on that." I imagine writing this book was like that evidence wall meme of the guy screaming point to all the red lines of yarn to photos and letters.The mystery / connection that is solved in this book threw me at first because of the dates of the will. The whole mystery they're focused on in this book happened a year ago, where the will was re-rewritten 20 years ago to disinherited everyone, then was changed to include Avery. To me, the incident that happened a year ago kinda has nothing to do with this whole, "I'm sorry" and "I have a secret about the day you were born." thing.slight spoilers -My reason for rereading this book now (28.8.2022) is to prepare for the third book release. I have vague memory of what happens in the next book, but as of now. In the great averygrayson and averyjameson debate, I choose averygrayson. Simply because the whole time while Jameson trails her along and shows interest, he is obsessed with her in relation to the puzzle and all the side characters state that. Where Grayson starts off angry, stay away from my family, stay away from Grayson but he eventually starts to soften a little as he realizes Avery didn't have any involvement in stealing the inheritance. Grayson stated that his biggest mistake was choosing a girl over his family, he blamed himself for everything that happened, and said the old man lectured him about how it was his big mistake too. BUT THEN HE CHOOSES HER OVER HIS FAMILY, threatening his mother to leave?? After she staged for Avery failed assassin attempts. Grayson withholds himself from Avery, keeping himself at a distance because, ""I will always protect you," he told me. ... "I'll teach you what you need to know to take this life like you were born to it. But this..us... It's can't happen, Avery. I've seen the way Jameson looks at you."" -pg. 365. Grayson doesn't want to let a girl between them again because the last time, she died, and he lost his brother. He blames himself for it all, and he refuses to let it happen again.

4/5⭐️This boll was good. I likes the many riddles and games this book contains. The writing was easy to read but in the same time great. The chapters were short and refreshing.Something I didn’t like about the book though was that I felt like it focused more about the riddles and games then the emotions of the characters. I mean the book didn’t talk about the emotions of the character so much. That can be a good or bad thing, but I personally would prefer more emotions from the characters.I would recommend this book in general, but I would recommend this book a little bit extra if you are I person who likes riddles and puzzles or if you are into open and thrilling endings that keeps you holding your breath to know what comes next.

Non vedo l’ora di continuare!!! Super consigliato!!
