Cristal D'Arques Longchamp 8-1/4-Ounce Goblet, Set of 4

June, 2013I would like to add a comment on this review from several years ago. I think the manufacturer may have changed on this stemware because suddenly the quality changed a couple of years ago and I stopped buying it. The seams in some ice tea glasses I purchased were rough and the packaging was so bad many of the items were broken. I still love this glassware but buyer beware--I can no longer speak to the quality of the work done on this item or others by this company.Previous Review: This crystal is just beautiful! It is heavy, well cut, has a nice drinking edge, and sparkles under the light. My only problem is matching glass sizes. The descriptions don't give enough information to tell if the glass is the same size as ones I already have. Sometimes it goes by the oz.'s it holds but were do they measure to? half way up the wine glass? all the way to the lip? 1/2" from the lip? My suggestion would be to order as many glasses as you need at one time so you are sure you are getting the same size. There have been a few flaws in the crystal. One wine glass had a tiny sharp piece on the side. I think it can be sanded off, but I haven't tried yet. Another had a tiny dimple in the side that I tried to wash off :) until I realized it was in the glass. I ordered two pitcher and glass sets and one pitcher had a broken handle when it arrived; but I kept it because I would have had to send the glasses back too and I needed them for Chrismas, and the product was no longer available. Overall, I have been very pleased with the glasses. My guests at Chrismas oohed and awwed over the table and said it looked like something out of a magazine. I will be buying more water goblets and iced tea glasses until I have a whole set. I just hope they are all the same size :)

After reading the other reviews I was a little hesitant to make the purchase. In the end I am very pleased. Though these are not lead crystal, they are very heavy glass and look wonderful. I purchased the 8.25 oz goblets and they are very much worth the cost. Additionally, they do fine in the dishwasher (unlike more expensive lead crystal). These will last and they do not break easily- having dropped each a few times, I know.

These are very beautiful goblets, have a nice weight, and match the set that I already have. They came just in time for Christmas which is why I ordered them, needing more for extra guests. They were an elegant addition to my Christmas dinner setting! Packaged very well and arrived with no issues. Happy New Year!

It is easy to think that these glasses are made of crystal, since this company and this pattern have long been associated with 24% lead crystal. But in 2010 Crystal D'arques introduced a lead-free glass they call DIAMAX. It's quite pretty but it's not crystal. It doesn't have the weight or ring of crystal. If you want the heavy crystal glasses that Cristal D'arques used to make then ensure that the word Diamax does not appear anywhere in the name or description -- or on the box. Many times you'll see on Amazon that the product description contradicts itself -- saying on one line that the product is Diamax and in another place that it is 24% lead crystal -- but it's either one or the other. It can't be both. In this case, there is no claim that the glasses are crystal, but it's easy to overlook this detail -- since historically this pattern was made from 24% lead crystal. Just so you know what you're getting....

The glasses are beautiful and look very expensive. They are cheaper on the vendor’s website but shipping is high if you don’t spend the minimum.One glass arrived broken; they didn’t use cushioning in the box. Waiting to hear from supplier for replacement.

I have about a bizillion of this stemware! First got it 35 years ago as a wedding present! Love them! I mix & match with the stemware I don’t use too often because it is too expensive to replace- if I could even find replacements, and it is not dishwasher safe! These ARC glasses are plenty heavy, look great, dishwasher safe, replaceable and can be for formal or casual dining! They make a lovely table setting as well! I am not ashamed to serve really good wine in these glasses! Buy ‘em!

I miss cut glass glassware from my youth, so I bought these and am happy with them. I'm happy not to have lead in glasses I'd like to use every day and happy that they seem pretty sturdy. These are indeed labeled as being 8 1/4 ounce capacity, but maybe that's in homage to what cups of this size held when they were made out of thinner crystal? A glass holds just a modest splash of wine, and at first I thought, Good Lord, have I been drinking more than 8 oz. of wine with my dinner all these years? But I measured what a full glass holds: Just 4 ounces. This is fine by me. But the labeling is deceptive.

This set of beautiful stemware is made in France. To be honest, this set of stemware is beyond my expectation for a set of glasses in this price. Some previous reviews reflected the problem of poor packaging. Based on my experience, Amazon has sloved the problem. My order is wrapped in a smaller box which is wrapped in a bigger box and there is a lot of air bags for protection. My glasses have arrived with no demage. For addition, the size of the glasses is 8.5 oz since this information listed for this product is somehow not perfect. This product is great for home use and for gift.

They don't look like expensive crystal glasses, but they look really elegant on your table and sure it won't ruin your day if somebody breaks one! Totally recommend.

Ich hatte vier Cristal d' Arques 7503056 Longchamps Kristallgläser 7,4x7,4x18,2 cm bestellt. Erhalten hatte ich 4 Gläser von DIAMAX.Nur DIAMAX sind keine Kristallgläser sondern nur einfaches Pressglas. Auch wenn diese Gläser optisch auf den ersten Blick etwas hermachen, erkennt der Insider sofort um was es sich dabei handelt. Für den Preis in Ordnung, doch sollte man bei Amazon schon richtig darauf hinweisen. Ich war jedenfalls enttäuscht. Die Verpackung und die Lieferzeit war okay. Bei diesen niedrigen Preis hätte ich mir aber auch denken können, das da etwas nicht stimmt.
