Valuable resource for making your own garden fertilizers and amendments
I normally don't leave reviews because of time constraints, but this one is an exception. Nigel Palmer's book is top-shelf material in my personal library because it outlines everything I need to break free from commercial fertilizers, even organic ones... I have been an organic gardener for almost 50 years, and this book has the kind of information that is missing from most books and websites. It does a great job of explaining soil biology in practical terms which helps me to better formulate my homemade fertilizers. The appendixes are crammed with useful charts and information: a handy summary of the amendment recipes in the book; optimal soil mineral amounts; plant mineral deficiency indicators; amendment mineral analysis; and refractive index brix scales (what the brix readings of different plants would be to show poor/avg/good/excellent quality).I was pleasantly surprised to also find lots of information about using an inexpensive refractometer to measure plant health and to evaluate the nutritional content of fruits and vegetables (fun and enlightening to compare storebought produce and homegrown!).

The earth is your tool
Nigel Palmer is a genius. Some aspects of this book, and some of the language gets a little 'sciencey', but it is TOTALLY worth it. Nigel has an approach to using the planet to feed your gardens and the soil through the use various items found in your yard, and your kitchen. Having executed some of his practices, I can say without hesitation - this stuff works!! GET THIS BOOK!

Excellent instructive inspiring
Mainly this book was really instructive and positive I appreciate it a lot and remind me how much we have to learn these techniques to rebuilt our souls, main challenge is to bring it to large scale and continue to learn and improve our food chain supply using bloggers and different wood venigars.

Very handy book with easy to understand recipes
This is a great resource where some of the many ideas and recipes related to regenerative growing, such as JADAM and KNF, are clearly explained. There are directions for making your own "fertilizers" from natural resources you can find in your local context. The missing star is because I was hoping for a few more examples of different plants that can be used as amendments. While I understand that being general and pointing people to an online resource and encouraging self testing of local resources is best for wide or international distribution, I would have liked to see an attempt to include more examples of common plants and their nutritional contribution in an amendment brew.

Love this book
I've been organically gardening for decades but I got this book because it talked about ways to improve the land with products that are naturally on the land. In short how to improve soil on a shoe string budget. Even in the beginning the information as he lays the ground work for understanding blew my mind. I think it is a must-have book for gardeners of all ilk. Under all lay the land and we are its custodians.

One of the best I've read
It's truly amazing what one discovers concerning the symbiotic relationship between things we consider mundane, or problematic that actually is there for a purpose. Can't help but think of Intelligent Design, a well planned symmetry of Nature's abundance.

Huw Richards recommend it....so I bought it
I'm not disappointed. I'll be using this book throughout the gardening season to make all my own natural garden amendments. Far easier than you would think. I'm getting more interested in Korean natural farming, which perhaps maybe this is technically not, but it's along the same lines in my opinion. Really happy I bought the book. It's a very good place to begin one of the journeo I'm on.

Healthy crops without a dependency on crop defence interventions
This book provides a good summary of a new garden model, which opens the possibility to grow healthy vegetables and fruit, focusing on organic plant nutrition rather than plant protection.

A revelation in gardening
This book tips current gardening practice on its head by advocating the use of home produced organic additives to improve soil and plant health. You will never again use harmful pesticides or unnatural soil additives when you read how nature intended soil and plants including veg to support and nourish each other.
