I really loved this book
The push and pull between Ellis and Sam was so fun to read. The flow of the story was great, the plot held my attention.Sam is just trying to take care of the only person she has ever cared about. The only way that she can do that is by being a thief. After she trusts the wrong man for a job she finds herself in apostrophe where she has to choose between jail and going to a reform school while getting money to take care of her foster sister. Of course she chooses the reform school but then finds out that it is for paranormal and that she isn’t normal.

So this "Academy" is really a prison not a school
There is a lot of craziness that happens in this book. I really like this author, but the brutality that the FMC receives from one of her mates is honestly too much for me.Again, I like this book, but it does have a running theme of bullying and violence being inflicted on the FMC by at least one of her guys, if not all, and that's the theme shared by other series I've read by this author that drives me crazy! It's just, the abuse and extreme bullying\training\breaking of mind and body that the FMC goes through is so mind boggling to me. That when the guy or guys start acting like they care I just feel so shocked that the FMC melts into them instantly as if they hadn't just spent FOREVER beating the ever loving scrap out of her!Okay, rant over. That being said, I do still really like this book, and I feel that this us going to be a great series to read.

Loved it. Great start to a new series
Samantha "Sam" Devinee , has had a rough life. Grew up is care, suffered abuse, aged out. Now she works as a thief for higher. Her last job, she should have trusted her gut and walked away, but the pay was to good. Now she finds herself at Talonswood Academy. A rehabilitation program for delinquent paranormals. Mostly half breed fae and vampire. Sam is unique and despised. A mortal witch, something she didn't even know she was. Her life has just been places in the hands of her last employer, the man who tried to kill her, Ellis.Ellis is the bastard son of the Fae King Bryant. For centuries he has been his father's bounty hunter, punisher, and assassin. Now he is being punished for his failure. His father needs Sam alive but broken. He need to be able to bend her to his will. Ellis has been charged with the task.Ellis is not alone. His half brother Asher, also a bastard son is commander of the Academy. Reese his vampire friend, is a trainer. Then their is Cassis,.a vampire who was once a friend. His love for a witch nearly destroyed the 4, centuries ago. None of them have any love for witches. There is something about Sam that brings out Ellis's protective side, despite his hatred of what she is. Asher sees his brother falling for the witch, and confronts him. Reece is out right hostile. Cassis is using her a a pawn in a game all his own. Ellis finds that Sam is something more to him, after she tapps into her magic to save them. What he found is something he has to deny.Sam is trapped. There is no walking away from Talonswood until you are let go.Fast paced and a little steamy, dark romance. A ends in a cliffhanger. Can't wait for the next book.

Strong start
3.5 for meI like this author, so I decided to try this series out. It started out cool because it doesn’t give a lame excuse for her to go straight to the school, but I did think it was interesting that the author used her past with perverse childcare providers to give her an incentive to survive. The guys were blessedly wary of her but toward the end they started talking of love and that’s too fast for me. If it’s a cosmic bond, I get it, but none of that comes up unless it’s a passing theory within a thought.A magical academy obviously isn’t anything new, but the magical world was a pretty decent setup: three races in a tentative era of peace. Everyone hates witches. There was dark material to work with at that and I liked what it lasted as long as it did.

Last Chance
Wow, l loved this so far and definitely will continue to the next book. It was unexpected the way the story played out. But I should have known better because it’s you Alex Lindell giving a way better ride then I could imagine, and thank you for that.

You know when...
You know when you just happen to stumble across a book that looks and sounds neat, then you read it and BAM, you're hooked? That's how it is with Alex Lidell's books. I was first introduced to Lidell's works through the Power of Five series. I fell in love with the story, and the series quickly became one of my favorites. Then that series ended and, a few months later, Last Chance Academy was released. Again, this is quickly becoming a favorite series of mine.I like how Lidell can weave each character's individual story with the others without it becoming muddy or inconsistent. Each character has their own personality, and the character growth for each is fantastic! I know we have so much more to learn about these characters, and I cannot wait until the next book is released and we get to explore this new world further!

Unique premise and solid writing
I wasn't a huge fan of the Power of Five, so I started this book with a bit of trepidation. But don't be fooled by the (slightly awkward) title. This isn't your standard academy book. Honestly, it's just the setting and had very little to do with the actual story. The MC is in over her head with little support, and the males (not men) have no intention of babying her. It's a little bit hot and a whole lot entertaining. Give this one a shot!

Fantastic Book
I Must Admit When I First Tried To Read This Book After A Few Chapters I Hate It. But Reading It For The Third Time I Really Got Into The Book. Now I Can't Understand Why I Hated It At The Beginning. I Have To Know What Happens Next With Witch Sam And The Two Shifter And One Vampire. What Going On With Them. Why It Sam Is Part Of This. Alex Lidell Books Are Usually Fantastic Reads. I've Read Most Of Her Collection Of Books And Enjoyed Them All. Now I Can Add This One Too. Fantastic Story Line ,Gripping Ending Also I Want To Know What's Happening To Sam's Adopted Sister. Will She Be Brought In Too Or Is She A Witch Also? Question ,Question Need Answering????

Hooked
Another brilliant story from Ms Lidell! Read in one sitting because I just had to read one more chapter! Enjoying a new seating and storyline, with a tough, sassy yet vulnerable female protagonist, thrown in the deep end of a previously unknown supernatural world, where no one wants her around, even those who are to protect her! I can’t wait, but will have to, to see where this goes. I had forgotten how much I enjoy her writing, tempted to go back and reread “Power of Five” while waiting for the next book.

Great Story
This was a hard one for me to review because I’m really enjoying the story but the constant change from first to third person is really disjointing. The back story of each character is well constructed and intriguing, and the book is generally written well aside from a few editing errors (totally normal) and some contradictions.I’ll be jumping straight into book 2 now!
