MX61 61-Key Keyboard Production Station

I got this keyboard because I didn't want to continue to carry my S90XS to gigs. Pros This keyboard is incredibly light/portable (it doesn’t’ feel very sturdy on the stand however). The sound quality is very good, comparable to the S90XS. I use it as a USB Audio/MID interface with Cubase. Cons: Limited to 44.1 kHz when recording (Cubase) as an audio interface. There are no user Performances slots, so I had to edit all of the factory performances. Also, VCM effects are limited to 4 voices per multi. The synth action is not very good.

For the price this is an amazing board. (but you've heard that already, right?) Haven't really stressed it yet, live recording only, but IMO it would be fine for a live performance also. It's a lot lighter than my old boards were, but probably more fragile. I haven't had to carry it around much, so a gig bag has sufficed. If I ever do drag these things around again on a regular basis, it's a risk I'll take. (If I need another board I'll get another one of these!)

Yamaha knocked it out of the park with this keyboard. The sounds on it are top notch. It's simple user interface was logically laid out and very intuitive. I use it for recording in my studio and it has saved me so much time. The recording software that came with it (Cubase) does me no good. I'm old school and still record on Roland VS multi-track equipment. Bravo Yamaha, Bravo. Now, AMAZON shipped this to Hawaii in the factory carton only. I was shocked at the condition of the box as it was torn, punctured and falling apart. How the actual keyboard survived is another testament to Yamaha's build quality.

Maybe you don't want to turn on the Yamaha MX61 and immediately find the sound of a grand piano and then go from there to add on different sounds... but that was what I hoped to find. The sounds it does create are great if you like wild sounds. I personally wanted to find peaceful sounds and this was too hard for me to go hunting to find. It gives the user a huge range of options ... but then that means the creators are targeting people who want that. All I wanted was a great variety of peaceful sounds and a way to get quickly at them. Perhaps in the future Casio could make a production station that gives the users an option to download a restricted set of options based upon a music profile. There could be an app that takes a diagnosis of the music I like to play and then tells Casio what kind of sounds I want to quickly find on the Production Station.

Keyboard is awesome. Its more or less the highest end of the mid tier Yamaha keyboards. I love the sounds this thing makes. Performance mode is easy to set up. Its light, but not light to where it feels like a toy. THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE about this keyboard..... is WHY is there no Android compatible software... come on Yamaha.. It's available for FREE on ios, and I would gladly pay 15 bucks for the sequencer software for Android. There is some cool guy out there working on a similar piece of software for Android, but its not Yamaha, so its not as polished.

What a bang for your buck! This is truly an enjoyable instrument! I have been a guitar player for 50+ years. My theory is ok, but I never went to music school. Oh there was the occasional course, and they were all taught on 🎹! Which BTW is considered a percussion instrument! This has more and will do more than I will ever use! But maybe I might get there and it’s nice to have the option! It also puts all of that theory into perspective! Forces you to think! You must learn your notes and triads, etc.... a wonderful learning device! If you are looking for a child, this may be too much, but give them the upgrade this offers! They will grow into it! I am a staunch supporter of music 🎶 for children! It forces them to think in constructive ways that will help throughout their entire life!

La verdad estoy muy contento con este sintetizador, para ser una versión de bajo costo sus sonidos para mí son de alta calidad. Recuerda que este sintetizador no trae bocinas integradas. La forma en que ha sido diseñado tanto su panel de botones como el menú digital, hace que lo aprendas a utilizar rápidamente. Viene de regalo una licencia para el software cubase y esto me ha gustado.
