Would like to make it the next book in our book ...
Have not really read the book but have spent time thumbing thought and reading bits and pieces and am impressed. Would like to make it the next book in our book reading class. It would be great with the age ranges in our group. Seems to be very Biblically based.

Refreshing
I enjoyed this literary journey of exploring womanhood through a new lense. While I am married and have a child, I learned about myself as a woman and gained tools to work with other young women, encouraging and blessing them on their own journey.

Refreshing, Contemporary Look at Womanhood
I confess, when I was asked to review this book, I wasn't sure about it. A professor as an author? I was afraid the material would be dry and too complex for me or other average readers to understand. I thought even with a Christian foundation there would be a feminist fist in the air, ripe with anger as she fights for change.I was wrong on every level. The Book of Womanhood is a comprehensive look at the things that make us God's piece de resistance[/tweetthis], the icing on the cake. The Book of Womanhood contains top notch research written in an easy going manner that feels like I was absorbing the material over a cup of coffee with the author. It's not intimidating nor political. It's informational in a way that celebrates our gender and gently reminds the world that Our Heavenly Father has a special plan and place for us.The Book on Womanhood features topics like women in Biblical history, our bodies, Science, how Harry from When Harry Met Sally was wrong, singleness, dating, and our relationship with creation, and prayers at the end of each chapter. This is a refreshing, contemporary look at womanhood. Learn from my naïve assumptions and make every effort to enjoy this book.I received The Book of Womanhood from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

What It Means to Be a Woman and a Christian
As a college professor and mother of an almost-college-aged young woman, I appreciate this clear, honest, intelligent look at biblical womanhood. There are few too helpful books on what it means to be both a woman and a Christian. Many are written by men with a list of what we should or should not be or do (aka The Dreaded Proverbs 31 Lecture). Amy Davis Abdallah's book will happily sit on my shelf and be central on my recommendation list next to Sarah Bessey's Jesus Feminist and Rachel Held Evan's Year of Biblical Womanhood. But her book takes the subject of what biblical womanhood means deeper and further than the other two. She explores not only what the Bible says about women, and the theology of womanhood itself, but also dives headfirst into subjects like sexuality, emotions, and friendship. She divides the book into relationship areas: how we relate to God, ourselves, others, and creation. I enjoyed how she begins each chapter with quotes by everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Phyllis Naylor, Eleanor Roosevelt to Anne Frank. It has helpful follow-up questions that would be excellent for classroom use, group study or even one-on-one mentoring. But what I most appreciate is the tone that embraces who we are with seriousness, affection, honesty and grit. She embraces all that we are as women, our strengths and frailties, and encourages us to be our best selves and to see ourselves as uniquely created and valued by God. All young women should be encouraged to read this book - and those of us who are older can read it to rejoice, sympathize, understand, and prepare to be better mentors.

Restored Focus
Reading Womanhood has given me a new format & opportunity to continue to learn from an inspiring professor 10 years after my graduation. The Book of Womanhood provides a passionate reminder to see myself through God's identity, rather than my own shoulds and oughts, restoring focus and motivation to live out my calling with joy!

Value in the Journey
If you're looking for a book that gives dignity and value to your journey as a Christian woman, then this book is for you. I read through this book during my senior year of college when everything constant in my life suddenly began to change. This book honors each woman's unique journey in the sight of God, and does not urge women to not fit into a certain image or pattern of life, but to go 100% towards the gifts and talents God has given them. The lessons about understanding the rhythms of life, the need for Sabbath, have become invaluable in the hectic and career driven life after college. Davis writes for any woman in any stage in life, encouraging all women to rest in who God has made them to be. I personally know Dr. Davis, and she is a woman who passionately lives her own life to embrace the journey and value of being a woman.

SO GOOD
This book was transformative and should be read by every woman. It has helped me have a deeper understanding of myself in relationship towards God, myself, others and creation. Dr. Davis does an excellent job with this work. It should be used for small group studies. I am sure you can get something out of reading it alone, but I think you will get so much more from it by reading it with a sister or a friend!
