The chicken is durable for my non-aggressive chewer. I have a 4 lb yorkie and the small was a good size. The small size doesn’t flop as much as I hoped but my yorkie doesn’t seem to mind. She loves this toy and it’s her favorite toy to pick up when I am not playing with her. It does have a strong rubber smell when taken out of the bag but it aired out in a day. I would recommend this toy for non aggressive chewers Update: 03/17/2021 my neighbors dog has created a tear in the chicken. I often take the chicken onto my dogs play date as it is a hit with the owners and the dogs, everyone finds it hilarious seeing the dogs chase each other with a chicken in their mouths. The chicken still squeaks even though there is a hole and will still be in use under supervision.

This is the first chew toy that has withstood the jaws of my Roscoe, pit bull, Chihuahua, dachshund/mix. I have bought 4 of them. They do start losing limbs, head etc., but my two dogs love these rubber chickens. The squeaker always goes first, and that’s for every toy I buy him. I highly recommend this toy. It has lasted the longest of any chew toy I have ever bought my Roscoe. Great for tug o war.

Our dog has gone nuts for this chicken. Have it for about 4 months now and she's still crazy about it. Still her favorite. She runs around playing with it by herself. It's like they put doggy crack in it or something to make it addictive. I'm buying one as a gift for a friends dog. Our dog is 50lbs and an aussie mix. Really entertains herself with it but also we have been able to do gentle tugging with it and it's durable. She is not a destroy the toy dog so don't know how it would hold up with dogs who like to rip into things but for our dog this is the best toy ever. I also find it important it's non toxic and there is no loose squeaker to be ripped out. I hope they never stop making this and continue the sturdy quality! Update- we adopted a 2nd dog (42lbs) and the 2 dogs play with this chicken. It's probably a year old now and still holding up even with the tugging. Still a favorite toy.

So I've orderd both sizes now and so far the smaller chicken has held up better then the large one. The sqweeker doesn't last longer then 3 mins for my hard chewing frenchies but they LOVE their chicken and next time they are in need of a fresh one I will order the smaller one again because so far its held up better and it's been outside in the elements for 9 months and still holding up.

I ordered the medium. My French Bulldogs usually kill the squeaker inside new toys within 15 minutes of getting ahold of them. My oldest sets about dismantling any toy but he also eats the stuffing once he opens up a toy. Which has caused many medical issues! This toy has no stuffing and survived to be chomped another day! My youngest Frenchie is obsessed with this toy. One reviewer wished the squeaker was louder but I appreciate that it’s rather quiet. The dogs still like the noise but you can hold a conversation or watch TV without wanting to break the squeaker yourself. It’s more durable than it looks. The floppy legs are apparently appealing for shaking the poor nekkid chicken to “death.” My little guys love it so 5 stars!

Chicken seems good quality but the sqeeker sucks. Would definitely give e a 5 star but not without the squacker

I have read the review that warns that this is a dangerous toy for dogs. But I guess it depends on the dog. I have bought three of these rubber chickens from this Amazon seller. The first of these chickens lasted many years without tearing, with my Australian Cattle Dog throwing it into the air and shaking it rather violently side to side by the neck. Mr. Chicken never did tear or become damaged in all those years. The second one I bought was for my son's yellow lab, who is a prodigious chewer and toy-slinger who loves tug-of-war. It's been over a year now without any injury to the chicken. With both of these dogs, it is/was their favorite toy. I just bought a third for my 18 month-old Australian Cattle Dog puppy. She chews right through most dog toys but this one appears to be as durable as its predecessors. There are some off-brand rubber or plastic chickens that look pretty much the same as this one and are less expensive, but they are NOT the same as this one in terms of safety and durability. This dog toy sold by this Amazon seller is in a different class of durability altogether. I highly recommend it based on our experience.

I thought the Lanco Romanesco Broccoli/Cauliflower toy was the best dog toy in the world until I purchased Lanco"s Original Rubber Chicken toy. The variety of features on the chicken, including the stringy legs contrasting with the wider soft body, keep dogs interested. Every morning, my daughter's hound/pit pup insists on coming up to the big house to take the chicken from our German shepherd pup and play with it for hours. The chicken's squeaker is not obnoxious and is very appealing to our dogs. They eventually punctured a small hole in the neck and got the squeaker out after three weeks of very intensive play with the chicken. The rubber is definitely more durable than the plastic used to produce most dog toys. My dogs also enjoy the red rubber ball and the caterpillar, but the chicken is their favorite toy.

Fabulous size for my golden doodle.....also tough enough......he's so proud of it....

It took my dog a year to finally play with this chicken. Seems like she was afraid of it at first but now she loves it. It is very durable.

My doxie loves this toy. I got small for him and he has not chewed it up as yet. I wanted a medium, but they had none in stock. The squeaky is not too loud.

Sometimes you just need a rubber chicken

The chickens squeeker came in not working, most likely due to the fact the chicken had been put in the finest psckage possible. 🙄 For the price, save you money. It was also very flat. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
