I was torn on 3 or 4 starts. I really love the two carving knives but have had issue with the hook knife. The first set i got, the hook knife had a big ding/gouge in the cutting edge so I had a replacement set sent. The knives have been working great for the past couple weeks until tonight. The hook knife came out of the handle. Im a little Leary in gluing it back in because Im not sure it was glued to begin with. Its my first set of carving knives so I dont have much to compare them to but Ive also been a professional chef for a lot of years and know a sharp knife. The cuts all over my fingers that I rarely feel when it happens tells me these are good sharp knives! I strop them before carving each day and have been using a sharpening stone every 4-5 days depending on how much carving Im doing and they sharpen quickly and easily. Not sure If ill have to have another set sent out again

I've had almost a year to use these tools by now. I usually by second-hand knives, which can be very high quality, so I bought this set mainly to see if it was possible to get similar quality from new at the same cost.It's not.But that doesn't mean these are all bad knives. The spoon knife is useless for anything other than basswood or pine. Totally useless. Way too thin and brittle.The two other knives are more sturdy, however, and with a proper polishing they actually hold an edge really well. The chip knife has even become one of my go-to knives for both roughing and detail work. It could use a better handle, but I'll get to that eventually. The whittling knife can be made sharp as hell, but it's for *whittling only.* I wouldn't dare try to use it for chipping off larger pieces.Cost/benefit is really good if you know how to polish an edge, but you might find a similar set without the spoon knife and get an even better deal.
