Reduces brightness and heat
This film noticeably reduces brightness and heat yet gives a good view looking out. It gives you privacy in daylight, but if it is overcast outside, or dusk/night, a person outside can see in very easily. The point of it is heat reduction, not privacy. Does a great job.

Here's the info on what you are getting and installation help
I got my roll today and have already installed a couple of window panes. The plastic backing for this is stiff and curls up when you try to roll it out for cutting to size. The film itself is thick, just like any static cling type. You want the window already cleaned before you even touch your film for installing. Clean it twice to make sure.Clear the area around you to make sure that you aren't getting any dust, dirt, fur, anything in between the film and the window once you peel the plastic off of the film.Directions say to use a soapy water spray on the window and the film before applying. I just used a wet sponge on the window and that worked fine for me. You want a moderate amount of water on the glass. It is possible to get too much water which will make it difficult in the end.Hopefully you have cut the film to be a little bit larger than the window area. You will have to trim along the edge of the glass.Just place the film to cover the entire glass area. No need to be perfect with it. The water will hold the film in place. You will then pull out sections and corners a few times to get a better placement and eliminate the big bubbles and wrinkles. You may want to use a soft cloth when doing this. Be careful not to crease it or snag. It will cause stretching.Once you have the worst of it fixed, put that plastic sheet that you pulled off and place it over top of the film. This will protect the film while you work out the rest of it. Use a squeegee or other tool to work with pushing out air bubbles. Be patient with this part, take your time. Start at the top and middle and work your way around to the edges. Once you are done, remove the plastic sheet. You will probably see some little bulges. Water bubbles. You will probably want to get those too. If you don't you run the chance of it all peeling off shortly. If it's too wet underneath, it doesn't have enough contact with the glass to hold up. This is the part that gets to be a pain. I used a cloth and carefully worked the bubbles to the edge. If the edge is wet, dry it with the cloth. Too much water will cause problems with peeling off. You may not be able to get it all perfect. I sure didn't.Clean the film if needed and let it dry out some. Come back a little later. If you still have some little bubbles, you can carefully push those out to the edge until you get enough that you are okay with how it looks.Using a sharp blade (I used a good box cutter) trim off the excess around the edge of the glass.Since this is a static cling kind of film, rather than the kind you would see glued on your car, it isn't going to be that nice clear view up close. If that is what you are looking for for your windows, move on to something else. This will have slight distortions due to minor bubbling. You can see how it looks on the lower half of this window in the pic I uploaded. Looks good at a distance, but up close you can see imperfections, mainly because of the challenges of installing. This is not something for the faint of heart. You have to be able to comfortably reach all sides of the glass to trim and push out air and water and be able to spend some time doing so. Awkward positions may mean a sloppy install.I think this product will be adequate for my needs. and the price is right.

Love this product, but…
Love it, easy to install. Not sure how long it’s meant to last. Mine are on sunny side of the house and it started warping and peeling around corners, so I had to reinstall new ones for this year. Somewhat pricey for only one year lifetime. Also if not careful with installment it’s easy to scratch, use something with sort edge to install. I spend 200$ in 2 years to do my porch side windows, at this point I could’ve bought nice curtains.

Works perfectly
We put this on our storm door so we can leave the real door open and see outside and the neighbors can't see in.From the inside you can see outside very clearly and from the outside during the day you can't see inside AT ALL, it's like a mirror. During the night you can see inside, but not as clearly as before, even with the lights on inside. It's a thick material so when putting it on you don't have to worry about ripping it. It has to be cut exactly the window size or maybe even a little smaller so that it doesn't make big bubbles.

It works
I got this so the so you wouldn’t see the reflection from my windows onto my tv, it works pretty well for that.. however I’m not very fond of the color, it’s a strong tint of blue. Bottom windows done, top aren’t. Also a little difficult to put on if you have animals the hair likes to cling onto it if you’re not careful, would definitely use two people when peeling off the back to apply to the window. Overall happy.
