12/2/2012 Update: One of the locks broke and Amazon replaced the spinner, it was quick and easy. I chose to get a replacement and be very careful with the locks, because I really like it.I did a lot of research before ordering this salad spinner and am very pleased with it. I love that the lid comes apart for thorough cleaning and it seems well made and sturdy. I have used a "pull string" type and like this handle much better. I also like the hole in the top that allows pouring out water and adding dressing without unlocking it. I wanted the option of soaking things and donated a "flow through" spinner because it did not allow this and was so small. This spinner works great with my home grown sprouts and is big enough for a LARGE salad. It also works well for storage and as a casual serving bowl. I believe that I will eat more produce because it is so convenient and easy to use. This model does not have a stop button, I don't care about that feature one way or the other.

High quality for the price, and high velocity spins... Exactly what I wanted out of a salad spinner

This salad spinner may be a bit flimsy, but it is so easy to use and does such a good job compared to our old one. It takes very little work to spin and the lettuce or other greens come out surprisingly "dry". We sometimes forget to latch the top because our old one did not require this and if you hold it down, it still works fine. UPDATE June 2014 - We have found that we have to hold the top down, even with the latches attached. You will have to experiment to see exactly where to push down on the top in order to get the spinner to engage properly. Still works great after a year and we would buy again.
