Culligan HSH-C135 Hand Held Water Filtered Showerhead, Chrome Finish

I cannot express how thankful I am to have found this product! I also own the shower head version WSH-C 125 and it transformed my daughter's chlorine damaged hair back to silk! I had exhausted everything and after extensive research I learned what hard water can do to hair. Add to the equation our new pool and chlorine and her fine blonde hair turned to straw in a matter of 2 months. Now I no longer smell the chlorine in her hair and after one shampoo her hair was changed. I was so shocked. I have a full review of this struggle under the other shower head. I myself have brown fine but coarse highlighted hair and my natural "frizz" and texture of my hair has improved dramatically as well. It is softer than it has been in years. All the damage and abuse is being washed away. I decided to purchase the hand held version as well due to a large golden retriever that loves to find mud puddles in the backyard. I was nervous seeing the earlier reviews with the mounting bracket, but I did find where they changed this and improved the product. My husband installed this in 10-15 minutes which included removing the old one as well. We have low water pressure and I was worried about the filter making it even worse. The flow and pressure from both of the shower heads is better than my old ones! It's insane AND we left the flow restrictors in place! I actually have decent water pressure now and I get hot water more quickly. Usually it takes 4-5 minutes for our hot water to make it downstairs to our bathroom and kitchen sink. I had hot water in 1:45 seconds. The kitchen....still a sore spot! I have no problems with the angle or adjusting the spray. Is it heavy? Of course. It's just as heavy as my old hand held that didn't have a filter! Luckily I don't have to try and shower with this in my hand because I would make a massive mess! I love having it to bathe the dog for his inopportune rolls in the mud and to clean the shower as well. When I am bathing the dog the handle feels comfortable in my hand and it's not heavy to me, it feels just like my previous Moen one. The mount is also nice and secure. It's a high quality fixture. Whatever your needs are for the shower head you can order this one in confidence. I'm glad I decided to try it. Don't let the old reviews deter you, they did improve the mounting bracket. This thing is awesome. Attractive, functions, amazing results and cheap filter replacement cost. 09/06/2016 Update: My damaged hair no longer feels like straw. I had no idea that hard water could play such an important role! I attributed the texture and feel to having highlights and color on a regular basis. I have been using the new shower heads just shy of a month and unlike my daughter's transforming over night mine has taken longer, and rightfully so. My frizz is under control and continuing to improve. I have also noticed it is starting to look substantially healthier. It no longer feels like straw either. Honestly, I can't even remember my hair being soft due to the texture which has now changed so much it's still surreal. My hair hasn't looked this heathy in 20 years. Reminds me of the hair I had as a child. I was also watching my daughter play volleyball this weekend and sitting in the upper level I noticed her hair shined more than any of the other girls. It has a certain glow that is easy to see and has great body to it. No products being used. All the money I had wasted on products and treatments and it's just a simple shower head. Wow.

I've actually purchased three of these over the years. I had one for probably ten years and finally needed to replace it as the nubs the water comes out of were brittle and breaking after so long. I recently bought another one for my second bathroom. It is a bit heavy because of the filter in the head, but it's not unusable. It's just something to get used to. I like that it softens the water. It makes it less itchy to shower, especially for my family members with dry skin. The filter is easy to install/replace and I've never had an issue getting replacement filters. There are three settings for the water, I don't usually change it though. A basic shower, a softer more aerated setting, and a hard massaging setting. Overall I like this showerhead a lot and as long as it still exists when the current ones need to be replaced (hopefully another 10 years) I'd buy it again.

Update: It's six years later and I still use this product daily, so I feel compelled to update my review. While the bracket piece did break, Culligan sent me a new piece that hasn't broken in over five years of use. I may have just gotten a defective part the first time. Kudos to Culligan for sending me the new part, free. These kinds of hoses are basically a consumable. Even the best ones only last 5 years or so, so it wasn't really fair of me to ding this product for a cheap hose. I'm on my third hose now, they are commonly and cheaply available. The installation instructions were clear and installation was easy. Installation revealed the big flaw in this product though. The part that attaches to the shower, which also holds the shower head, is made of a very cheap and innappropriate plastic that's far too weak for the job. The plastic cracked while I was hand tightening it, and I'm not very strong! This pretty much renders the whole product useless unless you repair or modify it. I was concerned about the weight of the handle unit, considering it's got a filter and a cup or so of water in it. It is heavy, but not unmanageable. The available spray patterns are nice, the aereated foam is my favorite. It feels like a lot of water is coming out, even with the flow restrictor in. The combinations of two patterns may not work if you don't have pretty good water pressure. They work for me some days but not other days. The other thing I don't like about this product is that the hose is short. It's a good quality hose, it looks like it would last a long time. I had to substitute another longer hose for it to be long enough for my semi disabled spouse to use on the shower bench.

So far, we like it just fine. As mentioned in other reviews, the spray is a little straight-forward but the different settings will allow you to find something that will be live-able. The filter seems good and the water was fine (clean shower). We didn't have bad city-water before...but we like the idea that it will be even better now. The flexibility of the hand-held w/hose will be great with baby when she comes (later this year). Drawbacks might be that, as a hand-held, it is just a little bit heavy. However, we are looking forward to using it to clean baby either way. It seems that filter changing is quite easy. Probably a person should stock up on the filters ahead of time since you are change it every six-months (or more often if you have bad water). Included was a calendar sticker to help remind you when to change filter out (nice feature). The install was a snap (as you have read in other reviews). Really easy. Of note might be the fact that the "holder" for the showerhead is at the "base" of the showerhead so this unit will actually make the height at which your "water comes out" about 8 inches higher than it was before you changed from conventional showerhead to this one. The hose seems really solid and the rest is made of the chrome plastic we are all used to working with by now. Seems solid though. We weren't able to find anything else on the market, including the filter, that was as reasonably priced as this unit.

I really liked the idea behind the filtered hand held shower head. Once installed, however, this one did not work. One, the handheld device with the filter installed is very heavy. Two, once we put the handheld device into the bracket, it would not stay adjusted to spray outward...it was so heavy that it just drooped straight down. I called the Customer Service at Culligan and they suggested tightening the bracket, which I did, but it did not help. Basically, the handheld device is too heavy for the bracket. Poorly designed. Sending back today.

As others have already typed the angle of the water is not optimum because of the fact that the filter is in the showerhead itself and thus makes it Very heavy. Its not that difficult to stand under unless one is really tall but I will probably have to uninstall it and install my cheaper $9.99 Unfiltered showerhead every time I clean out the shower as this brand is heavy but its possbile I could simply remove the filter behind the faceplate to take off the heaviness and to not waste the filtered water. When I installed it myself I saw that this showerhead is different from my previous showerhead as its a Lot more heavy because of the filter included behind the faceplate. To me, its not an issue....the issue is if the showerhead falls out of the mounting bracket and hits myself in the head/neck!! A previous hand-held showerhead somehow fell out of the bracket and Destroyed my porcelain soapholder thats a part of my showerwall! For the $46.99 I paid I am disappointed in the quality as it looks just the same quality-wise(too much plastic) as my $9.99 freds showerhead I replaced w/this model. This Culligan seemed to filter out more of the chorine than my first showerfilter: G.E's SmartWater shower filter Model GXSM01HWW.........DO NOT BUY THAT G.E. SHOWER FILTER SYSTEM!! Im including it in this review as I purchased this Culligan showerhead to Replace that awful G.E. filter!! That G.e. shower filter system is the kind that you have to install it in-between the showerarm and the showerhead. and the cheap plastic broke off on the 3 different G.e. shower filtration systems that I purchased!! ;( :( That is why I bought this Culligan showerhead as its a simpler design where one doesnt have to mess w/the filter in-between the showerarm and the showerhead...less parts to break. Out of those 2 design options I like this one better for that very reason/ And let me tell you: to Uninstall the G.e.filter and then install a 2nd showerhead as I was waiting for this one to arrive in the mail and then to uninstall the 2nd showerhead and then Install this 3rd(Culligan) showerhead was a pain!! this Culligan is much easier to uninstall and install! The main down-side of the filtered showerhead type over the. wall-mounted filter type is this Culligan is so top heavy its cumbersome to use the hand-held part (the wall-mount)kind is easier to stand under becuase it doesnt interfere w/the angle of the showerhead. Point being theres +'s and -'s either way........my experience w/the G.e. wall-mounted shower filter was so FRustrating that I will take this Culligan day over the G.e.one!! The replacement filter cartridges now on amazon for this Culligan are $11.99= $2 more than the G.e. cartridges but the filtered water seemed a bit better quality.I hate shopping online but I dont think this same model and cartridges are sold here so I'll probably have to buy them on amazon. I researched showerheads and Culligan was one of the recommended brands but for this price you only get chlorine and sulfur odor removed from the water...its Not a vitamin C filter so I would assume its the KDF filter kind.it will not filter out more dangerous chemicals/lead/mercury etc. Im assuming this does not filter out even chloramines. But I do not regret this purchase as I had very little time to buy a filtered showersystem and anything is better then the G.e. filter! Note: the rest of this review is not about the product but about the Really bad customer service from amazon! In the past Amazon has been great about product issues/returns. But w/this order there was NO RECEIPT/INVOICE included in my amazon package! ;( No paper at all. Now I know that is the direction so many companies are going but for my $46.99 I deserve and need my paper receipt for the 5-year warranty! and I keep paper receipts for other business reasons. I had to deal w/6 customer service reps communicating via chat/phone and email!;( I emailed tonight amazon a 2nd time about this becuase Amazon just sent an automated email that had No Real Solution included ;( None of them could mail me a simple Receipt! Theyre reason is that sensitive payment info but I told them thats the same info Ive used for Years but theyve changed their policy to put ALL THE WORK and EXPENSE ON THE CUSTOMER like the majority of companies today!! yes amazon expects the customer to pay for all the ink, paper printer usage. Not everybody has a working printer/computer and internet and not everybody can transport themselves to a public one and has time for the inconvenience! I refuse to believe that Nobody at amazon can print off my order Invoice and simply mail it! I am a long term customer and Amazon would not make any exception for this order. Id give around 3 stars for the product but 1 star for amazons Bad customer service!

I am very pleased with this showerhead. We wanted a showerhead that would be removable to wash our toddler and because she and I have delicate skin I wanted a water filter. I had another brand before this and added the shower filter on separately and this is a much better solution. The shower head itself is a little large to accommodate the filter and that is its only drawback as I see it. It has several adjustments for spray patterns. My girl loves the massage setting. It really seems to filter out chlorine and other contaminants and I could notice a difference right away. It really works well and is well made. For the price of a regular shower head I was able to get one with a filter and is better made than most. It has a metal flexible hose not plastic like the Moen I had before. And the attachment that holds the shower head to the wall is metal also. Seems very sturdy and it actually works. I have had a few culligan products before and I have always been very happy with them. Do yourself a favor and get one of these. It is well worth it. Amazon always has a good price and no tax with free shipping sweetens the deal even more!!

Do your research and then come back and order this one. 1. We have extremely hard well water and the filter works magic. We already have a whole house filter with softener, but the water was still harsh on my hair and caused hard water stains. 2. Decent price point for a name brand. 3. Brand you can trust - water specialists. 4. Improved our shower water pressure tremendously. (We did remove the low flow when installing.) 5. Install per the video, make sure to tighten up well and no issues, like some of the reviews. Very happy with purchase!

I'm very happy with this so far, my hair is less dry and frizzy and it appears to be good for my severe eczema.

Fantastic product. Instant results, we were dealing with heavily chlorinated and hard water. Our hair was dry, brittle, tangled, and our skin felt tight and irritated after showers. Installation was easy, the results were instant. Hair is soft and detangled, skin is soft and comfortable again. The shower head is very heavy from the weight of the cartridge, and it does tend to drop forward, but that's my only complaint. There is another shower head style without a wand if that seems like a big issue for you, I assume it works just as well.

Dont know if it had any effevt but the fact that the filters are more expensive than the showerhead+filter makes it useless

Made a huge difference! We have extremely hard water here in Rockwood Ontario CA this year seemed to be worse with my skin full of rashes and peeling skin, dry scalp and really icky feeling hair ( no good for me as it is super thick and down to my waist). Had hubby install this and although the reviews seem to be accurate regarding water pressure being low and the handle itself being very heavy,I haven't had any other difficulties. good product Culligan !

The shower head comes with a hose which clips into my existing riser rail. However due to the heavier head the mounting bracket tends to sag beneath the weight, causing the head to tilt down. I've tried tightening the clamp but may have to invest in another riser rail/clamp. That aside the filtered water is proving to need a lot less cleaning of the scale build up of the old unit.
