How to control the amount per use? Would the oil spill everywhere?

Yes the oil will Spill. I use a small amount of Argan oil putting it into the palm of my hand and then rubbing both hands together. So the oil spreads over my hands . I then rub my hands through my hair.

can I apply it before using the straighteners?

I used to do that, but now because they changed the formula, it’s very thick, I recommend the smallest amount you can as it makes your hair looking very oily and greasy.

Is this any good for human hair ponytails?

I would think so. I use all the time on my rather dry hair and it seems to keep it under control. Does not make my hair look greasy.

Does this oil give heat protection?

Not sure - but my hair doesn’t seem to look any worse for using with heat.
