(TM) NEMA L14-30 Plug and Connector Set

Bought this pair of connectors to make a 30 Amp patch cable for a generator. Costs about half to do it yourself. The quality of these connectors is pretty good. There is a rubber membrane designed to keep the connector reasonably dry, but I wouldn't call it water proof/resistant. Probably ok in damp locations. Instructions tell you to trim 2" of the cable's outer jacket, but that's too long for the rubber membrane to do its job properly. More like 1-5/8". Getting the bared wires into the connector itself can be a little tricky (instructions said specifically not to solder the ends for some reason), since all four wires need to be inserted into their clamps simultaneously. Instructions were well written and comprehensive (other than the lead length). Clamps that hold the wires in their places were well made and very sturdy. The stress relief was ok (three color coded sets are included to accommodate different wire diameters - the gray set which was pre-installed worked for the 10GA cable I used, so I didn't have to change them. Instructions were very clear on which ones to use). They were shaped like a crescent moon more than a half circle, leaving an exposed opening in the back. I suppose that's ok since the rubber membrane will hopefully hold in place and do its job, but I would have preferred a tighter fit. Overall four stars. Not sure I'd recommend this to my best friend, but now I have a cable that works and I'm ok with it as is.

Solid and very durable plug and connector. It wasn't listed but it comes with two additional colors for the chord clamp to distinguish between ends. You really won't need them for anything that I can think of but it is nice to be able to customize them if you need to.

This is a quality product for great price and receive quickly! Male plug alone cost this much locally and were out of stock due to Hurricane Sandy.

I bought this plug and connector set to make up a custom length cord that didn't have any extra cord to tangle.

I needed some cord ends for my generator and these did the trick. I bought the heavy duty 4 conductor wire from Home Depot. Just insert the wire and screw down the set screw. It's far cheaper than buying a premade "generator cord".

These connectors are a great deal! They are good connectors with screw terminal inside. They are well made and are holding up well. I have purchased many different connectors from Powertronics and they have all been good quality.

This product was $34.99 before Hurricane Sandy. We couldnt get any locally so we ordered on line and were grateful to get what we could to help all those we could. We helped as many friends, family , and customers as we could. I wouldnt dream of price gouging and we didnt. I guess supply and demand is legal outside of the state that has the catastrophe. I wont buy any from you or in the future.

The products was well made and had connection screws that allowed for easy installation. I only needed to loosen the screws loose enough to allow insertion of my 10-3 stranded wire. Also, the cable collars fit well on my wire.
