Simple, dependable safety beam
Installed this on a gate setup to stop the gate if something crosses the path. It was easy enough to mount and wire, and once aligned it reliably detects obstructions. No drama, just does the job every time. Good pick if you want a basic, trustworthy photo‑eye that works with common gate systems. The product is designed to work with TOPENS openers and many third‑party boards, and supports normal open/close dry contact, plus 12–24V power.

A must have device for auto close gate
The photocell beam sensor (PBS) works great but the installation is tricky. I share some tips here. 1) The NC (Normally Close) terminal to COM terminal is a dry contact. It is actually open when there is no beam, and is close when there is beam. 2) The simple installation sheet says "Vertically install the PBS switch and keep both emitter and receiver at the same level" that is not enough for the alignment. I use a visible laser beam to make sure that the emitter is pointing to the receiver with correct 2-dimention angles. I have to open the photocell cover, wire a 24VDC constant power supply to both the emitter and the receiver such that I can watch the POW and OFF indicators for alignment process. When a good alignment occurred, the OFF indicator is extinguished. When the beam is blocked or beam is not presented, the OFF is shined. 3) I build a simple plate, mark its working words, and hang the plate on top of the emitter. One can easily move the plate to cover the emitter beam for "Keep Open" and to NOT cover the emitter beam for "Auto Close". 4) Take out the constant power wires. Make correct wiring according to the Connection of the Control Board. Enable the DIP switch of PHOTOBEAM on the Control Board.
