NOT FOR BEGINNERS
I don’t know what the other Reviewers are talking about but this book is NOT for beginners! I am not a beginner by any means and the pattern instructions sometimes just made no sense and other times completely left out stitches! I was able to finish my project only because I am not a beginner. If I were starting out learning crochet and this was my pattern book I was going by, I’d quit! I literally wrote my own pattern instructions next to the actual pattern instructions just because I couldn’t stand to read there’s any longer. This book needs a total rewrite! I mean just look at the instructions for the Inner Ear. I’m like… what? And on another I had to add 6 sc because the instructions stopped after 6 stitches and I had 6 more to go. Yeah, no, this book is like pulling teeth! Frustrating!

*Updated* 5 Star Book with Some Notes
*Update*After having made more of the patterns, my wife is now a professional crochet artist as she had to learn AND CORRECT way too much in this book. While this book forced her to increase her skills, she proclaimed loudly that “it must have been written by someone who knows nothing about either Pokèmon or crochet.” As I understand it, many colors are wrong (Eevee’s fluff is not white) and the instructions are mostly outright incorrect (careful with Gengar.) She also called for a rewrite.*Original*Bought this for my wife and this is her review. It’s a great and amazing book. But it is not for beginners, low intermediate maybe. You have to know a few things that aren’t in the book but it isn’t anything hard. Keep an eye out because you ARE going to have to make adjustments to the patterns. This can happen with anyone’s patterns but the wife feels there is too many discrepancies between the patterns and the pictures in the book. WifeyFace used her Pokédex pics as well as internet pics for reference because those in the book are inadequate. For example, Charizard has blue eyes, not black. Ultimately, it’s a book of great patterns. It just needs some work that almost any person who crochets can figure out.

Kind of a frustrating book
I love the idea of this book and I want to give it 5 stars but I just can’t. It’s so frustrating to read! I don’t know why someone would write a pattern this way. I am a more advanced crocheter and it’s just a frustrating book but the patterns are definitely adorable if you can figure out what it’s trying to say.

Worth the money!
Excellent book with easy patterns. I have made 5, almost 6 dolls so far and they work up quickly. I have very limited experience and have never even crocheted in the round before but I was able to work these patterns easily. Don’t be afraid to get this!

the Author could write out the patterns better
this Book has Good imaging, My dislike is that the Patterns could be worded differently, especially for the beginners, Throughout the Bookexample-the Author wrote 2sc in each 2nd sc- This should have been written as 1sc, 2sc inc-increase. and repeat for (18). Luckily I have been crocheting for a 1yr and 1/2 so I do understand what they are implying , but for someone who has never crocheted this would be very confusing.

Fun project book!
The only thing that I don't like about this book is that the type of yarn to use is confusing. She says she uses cotton yarn, but that doesn't help me to discern which weight I will need. I am also having a hard time figuring out which specific brand she used. The pictures are great and I love that she has the Pokémon stats as well as the height of the project. Super cute and fun for kids! I already have a couple of requests!

True-to-Picture Designs
I was nervous to get this book after seeing the negative comments about the patterns being hard to read. I've only made a Pikachu and Gengar at the moment, but I haven't had any issues reading the pattern. It's written differently than the other crochet books I'm used to, but she gives instructions in the beginning explaining how to read her patterns. And the dolls turned out exactly as pictured! I'm very satisfied.

Pokemon Fun
Easy to follow and clear written patterns. Would have loved for a set of usable templates for facial features were included. All in all if you crochet and your children like Pokemon it is a must have!

More please!
This was a preorder that was originally due for a March 23rd release; there were some 'new' and 'used' offers come up through the week to purchase from other suppliers, but have now received it from Amazon March 29th. I would venture to assume an issue outside the author's control and wouldn't hold it against anyone as these are turbulent times in a pandemic for deliveries, I just wanted to mention it as I've always been very lucky in receiving preorders here on Amazon (even last year) at their set dates and wish Amazon or the author had released a short statement to say something along the lines of 'don't worry, it's still on its way!'. With an RRP of £14.99 (Mar 2021), one certainly shouldn't overlook a bargain at the £11/12 range!I'm still a beginner at crochet so finding something inspiring to make was the goal. I wasn't able to find anything to read in the field quite so personalised (many patterns to adapt or different stitches, some amigurumi etc.) but none quite so directly appealing to make (as a big fan of the original pokemon), and this was a no-brainer purchase. I'm most looking forward to making Gengar and Squirtle once my skills advance. The quality of the book itself is stunning, and the patterns and pictures are very well displayed and vibrant. Each pokemon has a pokedex entry, and there's a short guide on reading crochet patterns with instructional pictures at the start of the book. It is abundantly clear that time and love went into the layout and Sabrina Somers should be proud of her crochet pattern collection! To the author, I say please continue to make more pokemon patterns to follow in books such as these, perhaps an additional 20-30 pokemon per volume? I would struggle not to want to own a collection of such books and take them into school for class projects or adapt them for my own patterns. At least the first 151 pretty please! ;D

Great for beginners!
I bought this book for my girlfriend who had just started learning a bit of crochet - she considers herself a beginner. The book has everything you need to know to get making the critters and it did not take long for a Snorlax to be created! Can't speak for the other patterns but the snorlax was nice and easy and looks cute!Again, I'll stress that this would be perfectly fine as a gift for someone who has never crocheted before. It has everything you need to know in it!

Never crocheted before and now I have a recognisable pokemon
A good step-by-step guide on creating crochet pokemon. I used this book to properly crochet for the first time and was happy with what I was able to create (wonky ears aside). The projects are broken up into 3 sections - beginner (Gengar, Jigglypuff, Wobbuffet, Snorlax, Pichu), easy (Charmander, Dragonite, Eevee, Flareon, Meowth, Pikachu, Psyduck, Squirtle) and intermediate (Bulbasaur, Charizard, Jolteon, Lapras, Magikarp, Vaporeon, Vulpix).Problems 1. As a leftie, I've never had much luck with crochet, mostly because all the books are only really for right handed crocheters. This, too, is all geared towards right-handed people but after YouTube-ing one or two things I got the hang of it and the instructions for creating the parts were easy to follow. A couple of pages with reversed instructions for us lefties wouldn't go a miss in a beginner book.2. There are some parts that say glue when it really could have been sewn to make it more secure eg I glued the layers of felt for the eyes but then sewed the eye on to the head rather than gluing it to give it longevity.3. Some parts are so super small and fiddly to create (such as Jigglypuff's arms - instructions said 2.5mm hook, I used a 3mm, and the arms are about 2cm long with a 1cm diameter. Fiddly) so something to be aware of if you have sight or dexterity problems.Overall a good buy that I'd recommend to crochet people who have pokemon fans around or who are fans themselves.

Don't doubt it buy it you won't regret it 👍
Absolutely fantastic book. Patterns are well written and easy to follow. This book is fantastic for beginners or intermediate, there are good advice for which yarn and colours to use. I have made one up to now and fully enjoyed doing it, I'm doing them in order lol and eager to do them all 😀
