MUARO "Wave" Jew's Harp - Russian Vargan by Glazyrin

Wonderful little harp. Fits in your pocket so you’re ready to play whenever an opportunity arises. Functions well and sounds great. A decent value for the price. If you’re not versed in how to play a jaw harp, there may be a learning curve, but I thought it was a good feel and easy to start twangin!

I’ve only been learning to play mouth harps over the last few months so my experience and skills are from expert level, but this is a great instrument for its value. The wave is my third glazyrin with the first two being the Uranus and skiff, they all have distinct qualities and are precisely made. The small size is very similar to the skiff but the reeds and frame shapes are different, the skiff is one piece and the wave reed is screwed onto the frame. The reed feels more flexible than the skiff which allows for deeper tones and longer vibration time. The wave responds very well to percussives, hillbilly breathing, and open/close style. It has good resonance and a melodic sound but I had more trouble with the reed at first compared to my other glazyrins, it seems to require slightly more precise plucking to avoid striking the frame and teeth. Took a little more time to get comfortable with the wave compared to the skiff, but I’m enjoying its flexibility and range.

Was initially shocked by the diminutive profile, but she grew on me. Svelte. Clear-throated. Resolute. She likes it rougher than you may expect.

It’s not a kazoo. It’s not a comb and paper. It’s not an easy to play harmonica. It’s gonna take some woodshedding to play. Hope I don’t chip my teeth.

Love this Jew Harp .. has excellent sound and tone … good for intermediate and advanced players … not a bad value for the price. 😎👍🏻

It’s a cool piece and works well but it comes with an unmarked box and there’s no quality card or anything saying it’s from Siberia or anything like that. Would have been nice to have that included.

I tried a few cheaper jaw harps before, and thought they weren't that cool, but finally decided to try a Vargan one. Definitely worth it! It makes sounds I didn't know were possible with jaw harp. If you wanna try a jaw harp, I'd recommend this brand because it actually makes cool noises vs other cheaper brands.

The best sounding Jew Harp i ever played :) The only thing was it did not come with one of those wood holders, i love placing them as a pendant around my neck, but rather it came in a box and a pouch.
