I do recommend this book
Please note that the another one star review mainly commented on the kindle rather than the CONTENT of this book! As one of the pioneers of information theory based on entropy and/or negentropy, the author presented the concepts and related topics with deep insights and exceptionally solid logic. Although most of his examples are coming from physics (especially thermodynamics), the general considerations are indeed beyond that range, embedded into the modern statistics and information theory. I do recommend this book.

The one star applies only to the Kindle addition of this book, which is flawed. The book itself is an excellent discussion of the interplay between information and entropy in understanding how information works in the physical world. It requires a lot of mathematical equations, almost all of which are simple expressions, but the Kindle edition does not capture them all accurately. Some equations are missing, some have the wrong symbols, and some are garbled. It looks like the Kindle edition was produced by a machine with character recognition and never proof read by a person. I finally bought the paperback edition just so that I could finish the book.

One of the best scientific book ever
With Feynman's famous Lectures, I thought to have found the best scientific book I have ever read. Until this one. This is absolutely a masterpiece. This is what we should aim at in writing books or papers. Once again we have to go back to 50-100 years to look for the best books. When people did not panic to publish tons of uncompleted papers to increase H-factor.If someone needs an introduction to Information Theory, especially with a link to Physics, this is the best book. This is a masterpiece in how it is structured with a well defined beginning and end. Every statement is supported by examples and then by a mathematical demonstration. Leon Brillouin is for sure one of the most notable miss for Nobel Prize ...Marco Tartagni
