Sorry, I don’t know the size of Samsung S20 as I’ve got iPhone X but if Samsung S20 is the same size as iPhone X or even if it’s slightly bigger, the stand should be able to hold it.

No, you should be able to do it just by applying gentle but firm sideways pressure against the controller support arms.
