Has anyone tried both replacement filters - hd-s vs hd and noticed any difference in water quality? thx

Yes.  The HD-S keeps all of the scale build up off of my shower heads and dishwasher.  We use to use the HD and it worked great for the chlorine, but did nothing for the scale build up.

Question 2

If this one will reduce water pressure?

I have a 2.5 story new house, and it's been installed since we moved in 7 months ago.  We have never had great water pressure, and two people can't shower at the same time.  I just tried bypassing the filer, and there's much better pressure.  So yes it does reduce pressure, but I guess that's to be expected with a good filter that removes debris down to 5 microns...

Question 3

this says it can filter 100,000 gallons of water, me and my wife only use about 37,000 gallons a year, does it it mean it will last 2+ years.

This depends entirely on your water quality. I don't every see anywhere close to 100,000 gallons on mine before I start to get reduced pressure. If I had a one story house I could probably get longer, but I have to replace this every 12 to 18 months.. and I use less than 40k gallons a year. That being said, I live in AZ and my water quality is horrible.. and this filter makes a HUGE difference.

Is this any good against bacteria/fungi/viruses? Want to know for my house in Mexico.

No.  The filter only removes particulate matter.  The material it contains is granular activated charcoal (GAC), the same substance that hospital ERs use to treat persons who have ingested poisonous material into their stomachs.  The filter also removes chlorine, the substance that kills bacteria in water.  If your water source is not treated with chlorine or similar anti-bacterial methods, you should not drink it.  Think of chlorine as a protective wrapper.  The filter removes the wrapper prior to drinking the water.  If you buy a sandwich from a store, it comes in a protective wrapper.  You don't eat the wrapper with the sandwich.
