Pitch Black [4K Ultra HD / UHD] [Blu-ray] [4K UHD]

Glad it comes with the animated short “Dark Fury” instead of hunting down the DVd. However the 4k artwork is beautiful as well as the picture and sound quality. Def happy to complete my Riddick collection

I just got a 4K player and managed to pick up both Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick 4K Arrow release. Pitch Black specifically is a massive update from the DVD and even the blu ray. The Dark sequences look great. There is no film grain removal which I prefer. I hate when 4K digitally removes film grain and smoothes it out. I think it looks so nice even in the HDR colors. This was a nice 4K package that includes both the directors cut and theatrical version of the film and a ton of extra special features. I hate bare bones releases like Shout Factory when they released Time Cop on 4K for $40 and only has the movie. Nothing else. Its so bare its unfortunately a steep price for just a movie. This was worth the price and the transfer was excellent. Highly recommend this 4K.

First off this is a limited printing so I'd buy it immediately if you like the movie. It comes with a small book with info on the movie and actors which is cool. It also has dual covers so you can flip the box art. The movie itself is amazing quality and looks absolutely amazing in 4k with Dolby vision or hdr but DV is better if you have a capable tv. The transfer was approved by the original creator and director then after they finished the master the director went through and made sure all the color grading was correct (unlike the HD version of Buffy (the tv show) which looks awful so it's great that he supervised this. There are also a good amount of special features to dig into. Some.. most, are from past releases but everything is still worth watching and the commentaries are great. This is just a great movie that started a franchise with one of the coolest character's ever.. Riddick. It spawned multiple movies (all good as long as you get the director's cut of chronicles), an anime and an absolutely amazing video game that I highly recommend. I'd love to see that remastered lol

Pitch Black” is a well-known movie that was the 73rd best-selling movie at the box office (by Boxoffice) when it was released in 2000. The film is captivating. And it keeps its power until the very end. The sequence of never-before-seen scenes in a different environment from Earth's is a rare film that succeeds in making the loneliness of a crash-landed crew on a strange planet (with no help from anyone) feel real on a cosmic scale. Short description of the story:. A spacecraft, damaged to the point of hull destruction by a meteor shower, makes an emergency landing on a planet with three suns shining on it. The survivors, all of whom are from different backgrounds and backgrounds, try to survive in their environment. However, the planet's underground and dark places are lurking with flesh-eating aliens that feed on humans, and one of the survivors becomes a victim. Then they discover the remains of a former research base and a small spaceship left behind. Just as the stage is set, a total eclipse of the planet's three suns, the first in 22 years, brings darkness to a planet dazzled with light. When aliens unleashed into the dark sky swarm and attack the survivors, the survivors must rely on Riddick, a violent criminal who has surgically improved his night vision and is skilled at piloting a spaceship, to fight for their survival. The highlight of the film is the total eclipse scene of the three suns at the midpoint of the film. The spectacle of the celestial show is overwhelmingly powerful, as it depicts a daytime full of light and shining white until then, and after letting the audience get used to the brightness, it turns into a dark night. Although it is said to be impossible from the viewpoint of astrophysics, it is a spectacular fantasy science fiction film, and once seen, it is a scene that will leave a strong impression on the viewer. Director David Twohy gets the audience emotionally invested in Radha Mitchell's Carolyn Fry from the very beginning, and then her shocking tragedy at the end elevates the film to memorable heights.

Great movie arrow did awesome Job in 4k. Love watching in dark room with surround sound. Now need an oled tv to really enjoy this movie which is one of my favorites.

Had to replace/upgrade my dvd to blu ray, now my blu ray to 4k! So good!!!

Arrow Video did an outstanding job on this 4K version of Pitch Black. With the striking, and often completely different, color pallet this movie uses, it would have been easy to have this 4K transfer look off. But, Arrow worked their magic, and they got it right. The HDR / Dolby Vision is amazing. Since this was a 4K transfer from film, there is some noise in some scenes. But, that is expected, and wanted at times. My only gripe is no Dolby Atmos. If Arrow had included an Atmos track as well, then this would be a perfect version. It does include full surround sound (DTS & DOLBY), so the sound is good, just not Atmos great. Pitch Black 4K also includes 44 page booklet explaining much about the film. And, the cover is reversible (see pics), in case you want one look over the other. Highly recommend this Arrow 4K version if you are a fan of Pitch Black (Riddick), Vin Diesel, and / or 4K films.

Great movie!!!! All the Riddick movies are worth owning !!!

I received this item fast, and it plays without issue on my blu ray player and box one s console. The film's new 4k restoration is top-notch, and I highly recommend picking up this UHD Bluray.

Very expensive but I only had the DVD and figured I'd give a boutique disc a try. Very nice transfer, I wouldn't make a habit of these but the odd favorite is worthwhile.
