Camco 55245 30A Plug with PowerGrip - Clamshell, Yellow|Yellow

This was relatively easy to connect to the cord and is working. The instructions were clear. It was not in 2 local hardware stores. It came carefully packaged and arrived on time.

I converted a retired Ambulance into a camper. I needed a power cable, and this was exactly what I needed.

I have 100' of 10/3 Type SOW cord and figured I could make a 100' extension cord for my RV with this Camco 55245 on one end and a 55343 on the other end. The female, 55343, went on in a snap. I knew from reading the reviews that this 55245 could prove difficult to wire because of the placement of the screw heads facing the post. I'm taking one star off the review because the instructions simply read "raise terminal to access screw and clamping pole." How??? Mine didn't wiggle, even with pliers. I figured I'd break the plastic trying to "raise the terminal" to get access to the screw. Fortunately I found a YouTube video (and then discovered the video on this page) that points out that you can push on the blades to raise the terminal on the reverse side. Except that mine had no give at all. I had to get a plastic mallet and, with the rear cover removed, hit the blades pretty hard to push the terminals out enough to get access to the screw. Once I got the terminals raised, getting the wires secured was easy and the rest of the job was done in no time at all. I've tested my new extension cord plugged into the house and RV and it works like a charm. Nice replacement.

Excellent 30 Amp plug replacement

My last one (same product) lasted a good number of years before it got brittle and started to fall into pieces. I’ve tried other brands and they melt within a few weeks, toal joke. I just wish this was not $30. It’s only a plastic housing with a bit of copper. And I’m sure it’s made in China for pennies on the dollar 😢

Perfect for 8 guage wire. Plenty of room inside for connections. Sturdy plastic. And grips the chord very well. Well.made. I recommend.

The Cord connectors are nice and solid making a firm connection to the wire. The connectors make a good electrical connection to the mating plug. No heat like my original. It was easy to install with the length of strip identified for the wire. Good wire clamping too. I will buy this again.

Bought a cord end at Home Hardware for same price, was a nightmare to put together and cracked almost instantly. This cord end was very easy to put on and is way more rugged. You will not find better value for your money.

I bought this one to replace the plug on my trailer because of its handle, which I thought was a good idea. However, now that it's installed I can't store the plug back inside the trailer when I'm traveling since the plug is too big to fit into the RV cable hatch tube. Operator error here so no stars deducted but if you're planning to use this to replace the plug on your RV make sure it fits back into the trailer first.

Have not had a problem, but it has not gone off yet.
