High quality, ultra reliable, great value!
The Dell Optiplex line of computers is a high-quality product, and these refurbished units are excellent. They perform exactly as intended, run quietly, and are extremely reliable. I would not recommend this model for "hard-core gamers", but for most typical computer work this is a great deal.Setup is simple, though it takes some time to load all the Windows updates, as it is shipped with the original OEM version of Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit addition. You can expect about 200 total, with a few reboots (3) during the process. If you do NOT want Windows 10 to automatically be installed (Microsoft's fault, not the fault of Dell nor the refurbisher), then be sure to block updates KB3035583, KB2952664 and KB3123862. I also recommend blocking the Microsoft "telemetry" updates, as well as the updates for Remote Access (unless you want/need Remote Access; but for security reasons it should be disabled unless you really need it).The computers have gigabit Ethernet built in, but if you want wireless connectivity then you can use something like a Edimax EW-7811Un (unless 150Mbps is not as fast as your service is capable of sustaining). It plugs into a USB port and is unobtrusive, and so simple to set up.Performance-wise, the computer can easily play full-screen HD videos (1920 x 1080), but as mentioned it is not able to handle "high performance" game software. But are games really so important??Note that there is zero bloatware installed; a huge "plus" in my opinion. Completely configured, there are less than 40 processes running, leaving plenty of system resources for applications. This machine is a great little unit, and delivers a lot of "bang for the buck", too.

This computer arrived as advertised in good shape, 1TB drive
Needed a basic box for my garage workshop to look up equipment manuals, research projects, e-mail, stream news/music and play videos in the background. This computer arrived as advertised in good shape, 1TB drive, 3 gig processor, 8gig memory. Tower was clean with only one or two very small wear marks and a tiny spot of dust on the outside front grille. Inside looked new.Mouse was smashed into 1000 tiny bits because it was placed between bottom of tower and box without enough packing material. No big loss as it looked like a $1 Chinese mouse, have half a dozen spares anyways. Keyboard was o.k. - didn’t need it and will keep as backup. Otherwise the packing was good.Hooked it up to a cheap 20” Acer VGA LCD and Logitech Z333 speakers. Also installed an old Linksys Wireless-N PCI (WMP300N) from which I had to remove the metal bracket to fit in the mini-tower case. Card was recognized upon boot.Computer booted normally and auto updated. No issues with Windows 10 key so I’ll assume it was a good copy.System seemed to run quickly but Internet Explorer is cancer and could barely load basic pages like Google. Didn’t even bother to try to download another browser. Then there’s all the bloat that is the Windows 10 botnet itself with the inability to uninstall or turn off all the supposed “features”.All of that nonsense really pushes any box it’s installed on to the limit. After about 20 minutes of use to make sure the hardware was correct and operating I tossed Windows and Installed Open Suse 42.3 as planned. No problems except it wouldn’t recognize the PCI wireless card (it's a Linux issue I’ll try to resolve later) so I inserted an ancient Belkin USB (F5D7050) which worked immediately. So far the machine is working great and I hope it will last a few years. My thoughts for this particular device is to get a cheap wireless USB, ditch Windows 10 and put Linux on it.*update: Still going strong after a year running OpenSuse 42.3. Added one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JDVRCI0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for $15. This box is definitely a bargain.

Customer beware
When you read the words "refurbished", you may not realize what you may be getting. Mine was from 2011! But I am on my 3rd PC from them, as the first two stopped working, and this 3rd one is also freezing up. I am done with Skytech, and if I have to, will take the 1T drive and use it for an external drive, albeit an expensive one at $167. Since my saga with the 3 PCs started back in April, I was not able to get my money back. Skytech did respond to each problem, with the one exception of the time around the 90-day money-back window. Then, they did *not* respond, nor did they return our calls, ensuring that we could not get our money back after our 2nd failed PC.I am 99% sure that this company must have a warehouse of old crappy Dell PCs that they are "refurbishing". It is true that if you have a problem, they will send you another one (not a "new" one). Do not think you can save money by buying one of these.

5 stars for what it is and what it does.
Bought this as a game room desktop for my son. This is a great refurbished system (so far). Came equipped with W10 Pro and immediately booted and updated the extras I installed. The installed video driver is ok for normal surfing, but I ended up adding a ZOTAC GeForce GT 710 2GB DDR3 PCI-E2.0 DL-DVI VGA HDMI Passive Cooled Single Slot Low Profile Graphics Card ($42.99) and a OURLINK 600Mbps AC600 Dual Band USB WiFi Dongle & Wireless Network Adapter ($14.98). I matched this with a Dell 23" LED monitor I got on sale from Best Buy for $99. So, for about $300, my son has a nice gaming set-up and a historically reliable business desktop - (Dell excels with the build quality of their business systems). He is onto Steam and playing all his FPS games and in heaven!Definitely a worth buying system!
