Both divas deeply rooted in the church and their gifts undeniably from the holy creator, deliver an experience to rock your soul. But this kind of performance we've come to expect from Jennifer. 03. Pocketbook my girl is showing versatility and proves that she can handle any genre (somewhat like her fellow Chi-town native Chaka Khan). Spotlight is a kickass track and continues to be a pleasure to sing along to. She closes out this CD project by returning to her roots with Jesus Promised Me A Home Over There. So comfortable, so confident, and so incredibly touching. I was ready to start running up and down the church aisle needing the ushers to restrain me. There are few cross over artists that can take me there and I used to hold the thrown for Kelly Price but Jennifer Hudson has made me rethink that choice. Perhaps they need to be in concert together.........just putting it out there. We haven't had a diva celebration since Chaka and Whitney. Kudos Jennifer Hudson. I saw this one and the price was perfect so I was like ok, I'll give it a go. Got it in great time and flawless condition. Jennifer Hudson's voice is like that of an angel. She has that star quality and power vocals just like many before her Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, the late and great Whitney Houston, etc. Her lyrics are meaningful and she gives a great variety of slow and up tempo songs on this grammy award winning album. Worth every penny. A CD you must add to your music collection, I'm sure glad I did.

Inviting CD Welcomes All
I love this CD...I loved it so much that I downloaded it while I waited for my Amazon pre-order to arrive. Contrary to other views posted here, this was no disappointment. Ms. Hudson's style and class are signature sounds on this CD. My favorite song is "Giving Myself..." What a perfect title for her first complete CD. Isn't that what we all should do when we are embarking upon one of greatest endeavors - give ourselves fully and openly. I "spring my head" to the energy of "Pocketbook" and swing to the melody of "If This Isn't Love..." great music! Ms. Hudson, true fans love the product because they love who it's coming from!

I STAND CORRECTED!
In an earlier review, I stated that Jennifer's New CD, (a few songs anyway), were a bit boring. Now that I've had a real chance to listen more and more to her CD, I find that her CD is WONDERFUL! I do think that is was RUSHED A BIT. BUT SHE IS AWSOME!!!! HER CD IT GREAT, GREAT GREAT. I SIMPLY LOVE HER DUET'S!!! JENNIFER HUDSON DESERVES ALL THE ACCLAIM FOR HER SUCCESS!! SHE IS GREAT! I LOVE #4, #5 THE CD IS GREAT. AGAIN, I STAND CORRECTED!!!!! 1ST REVIEW!!! I really have to say to Jennifer: TAKE A BOW! You have indeed made your dreams come true! The CD is GREAT, a few of the songs are great with a few more that are not so good. Don't get me wrong, I am not dissing this album. I just think that some of her songs are boring. I love Jennifer and wish her all the luck and success that she derseves!!! MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE CD IS #4 (Giving Myself). Listen to it! It is b e a u t i f u l! By the way, I also like #5 (What's Wrong) and of course the song ( I'm his only Woman) with the ever talented FANTASIA!

Wonderful job from a real singer. I love singers that can belt out a song and Jennifer can do that as well Aretha, Pattie, Whitney. I don't know why ppl are picking this cd apart I loved absolutly every song. After the poptarts, the lip syncers, the rebel without a cause pretend angry singers this is a real, real treat. Songs with passion, sung with emotions and real talent. Heck the woman could sing the alphabet song and it would sound good, but she didn't and the songs on this cd are great. Well worth the wait.
