What a Fun Book!
I should probably wait until I've completed the menu chosen (#25), but after day two, I'm just having so much fun and enjoying the flavors/seasonings suggested in the book, I just can't. Schloss's seasoning for his fried chicken is better than mine - and, it hurts to admit that. The gravy and anchovy mashed potatoes really took the meal over the top.Just finished Day 2's Mushroom Mushroom soup and thankfully I was able to stop my husband at 2 bowls so we can have some leftovers. I gilded the lily by making baked potato skins from the baked potatoes of yesterday - so good together.Tomorrow will be Warm Chicken Caesar Salad........

I love this book!
This is exactly what I was looking for...a cookbook for the person who has the basics down and and enjoys cooking, but is challenged by the task of preparing home-cooked meals after a full day of work. This book lays out four days of quick entrees based on parts of a larger, more elaborate meal prepared on the weekend. It's not about re-heating leftovers. It's about creatively using leftovers to make four whole new meals. For instance, in Menu 33, the big meal features Poached Scallops with Orange-Tomato Sauce, Carmelized Fennel and Quinoa Nicoise. The weeknight entrees are: Quinoa Seafood Salad, Provencale Veal Chops, Conghiglie with White Beans and Asiago, and Grilled Chicken Breast with Olive Paste. This is just one of 52 menus. There are also good cooking tips and shortcuts. Did you know that you can microbake potatoes? Simply microwave 4 potatoes on high for 7 minutes, then transfer them to a 450-degree oven for 20 minutes. Lastly, I'd like to add that I think using this cookbook has saved on my grocery bill because I use all of what I buy and cook rather than tossing leftovers that I intend to re-heat but never do.

Great concept, terrible recipies
If you like everything you eat to be drowned in lemon juice and lemon zest, and you consider a potato something rare and precious that you only eat 2 or 3 times a year, you will like these recipies. Better not have any picky eaters at your table. As another reviewer pointed out, the weeknight recipies are not assemble and heat, but quite a bit of cooking using a very small amount of leftover food from the Sunday dinner. In short, don't waste your money on this book. I wish I'd thought to come here and read reviews before buying this book on impulse.

We're eating the best quality food ever and spending less!
We are in the third week of our experience with "Dinner's Ready" and are totally excited about the quality of the food we are eating EVERY DAY and the impact on our food budget. Our son (8) loves the food!!! Our daughter (6) loves the food!!! The variety in our food is incredible, almost everything is fresh, incredibly flavorful and nutritious - and it's not even high in fat. We purchased the book unaware that it was the written by the same authors as "Fifty Ways to Cook Most Everything", my mainstay cookbook. The fact that the book doesn't have menus for every night of the week I count as a positive - occasionally I want to cook an old favorite or entertain on a theme (or even eat out!). The ease and quickness that the weeknight meals provide is a real lifesaver - I can't believe I can get great food quickly and easily. Andrew and Ken, you do marvelous work and your names are spoken with near reverence in our home. Thank you.
