Nice Product - It measures your body weight and BIA through your legs, review includes a comparison to other techniques
Ozeri Touch 440 lbs Total Body Bath Scale - Measures Weight, Fat, Muscle, Bone & Hydration with Auto Recognition and Infant Tare TechnologyI bought this scale a couple of weeks ago to see if it might be better then my ten year old Health-O-Meter scale which just measures weight to the nearest half pound and body fat to the nearest percent. I was hoping that perhaps BIA technology would have improved. I liked the idea of stepping on without touching a button to select a profile and having an easy to clean glass surface with no mechanical buttons with gaps between the buttons and the scale surface. The scale is very nice. It has a low profile. It's solid and firm with no noticeable rock or movement when stepped on. It's very modern looking. With a back lit display, it can be read in the dark. While white in color, it seems to pick up the colors of the surrounding area and in my bathroom, it takes on a slight green hue. For some reason, including old eyes, the display was a bit harder to read. The tare feature also works as advertised. The scale measures my weight the same as my old scale with the added precision. It's very repeatable in all measurements. The body fat percentage on the Ozeri Touch was about 5.0% lower then my old Health-O-Meter scale. To determine which was correct, I decided to try body caliper measurements and bought the "Slim Guide Skinfold Caliper" from Amazon. After that purchase, I was able to find and purchase a DEXA scan with a Groupon coupon for about $35.Here are the results:Ozeri Touch...............175.2 lbs....20.60% body fatHealth-O-Meter..........175.0 lbs....26.00% body fatDEXA office scale with clothes 176.00 lbsCaliper results (using BodyTracker Software App on my iPhone -[...])The app suggests using the Jackson Pollock methods if your body fat is under 12% (men) and 14% (women), the Durnin/Womersley method if you body fat is over 15% (male/female), and the Navy method for everyone.Navy Tape Method....................19.50% body fatJackson/Pollock 3 points..........18.12%Jackson/Pollock 4 points..........20.53%Jackson/Pollock 7 points..........20.67%Durnin/Womersley (4 points)....28.25%DEXA (total body fat )...............27.40%DEXA (distribution - leg fat)......21.10%For me, the Health-O-Meter, the Durnin/Wormersley, and the DEXA scan were similar at 26.0, 28.5 and 27.4 respectively. The Ozeri, the Jackson/Pollock and the Navy methods were similar to each other. I'll assume the DEXA scan to be the most reliable. While these numbers may suggest that the Ozeri Touch is inaccurate for total body fat, it is not the complete story. The DEXA scan provides a fat distribution analysis. The leg distribution portion of the DEXA scan was 21.10% body fat, just 0.5% more the the Ozeri scale (20.60%) which is measuring impedance through the legs only. That's pretty close.YMMV. I'll trust that the DEXA scan is more accurate and now know how much my Ozeri scale is off (6.80%) for total body fat and watch the trend, correcting the offset by using the caliper - Durnin/Wormersley method for future low cost measurement.I think it would be beneficial if the scale could add a "correction" factor for an individual's profile that would add or subtract the difference between the scale measurement/calculation and the more precise total body fat measurement from a DEXA, BodPod, or hydrostatic measurement. Of course, that correction factor would drift as one's body composition changes. It's a nice scale for a great price. It measures my weight correctly with more convenience, aesthetics, and sanitation and the body fat in my legs accurately compared to a DEXA scan. It provides hydration, muscle and bone measurements/calculations which I cannot vouch for. All are useful for watching trends beyond weight as one's body composition changes with weight loss/gain and exercise.

Super nice, very well made, and VERY sensitive
My wife and I have had different "body fat" scales. You know, the ones that not only measure your weight, but measure body fat, water, muscle, etc. as well. This is one is much like those in terms of function, however, I find this one to be substantially better made, and is also made here in the USA. Kudos for that! One thing you will find is that this scale is pretty thin, as far as scales go, and when you pick it up, it is actually kind of heavy for its size so you can tell it is a solid and well-made piece of equipment. Again, proof that quality doesn't come from China or Mexico or...you get the point. To activate, just step solidly on the middle of the scale. Setting the personal parameters to allow calculation of weight, body fat, muscle mass, bone mass, total body water % is a snap and should take you much less than 5 minutes to do, seriously. It is that easy. The one thing I noticed right off, and I have to warn you, is that this scale is EXTREMELY sensitive to different surfaces and will, based on those textures, change how you weigh. We have a large, subtly textured tiles on our bathroom floor. Depending on tile I place the scale on when I weigh, it an change my weight as much as 1 to 1.5 lbs. Honestly. I am an avid cyclist and today weighed on three different tiles and got from 148 to 149 lbs, three different times. Then I moved to our kitchen and weighed on our flat linoleum and got a solid 148.6, three different times. Again, choose your weighing surface carefully and be consistent in your placement of the scale on that spot or you may be shocked at a false increase in weight. It should go without saying that you should always weigh in the morning, naked, and preferably after you've gone to the bathroom, but before you drink or eat anything. Some cyclists will easily spend $2000 or more on a wheelset to drop a pound on the bike in attempts to make it lighter and faster. Others in response will say, "You know the cheapest way to take weight off your bike? Go to the bathroom before a ride!" Think I'm kidding? Weigh before and after you visit the restroom sometime and you might be surprised at the numbers. As much as I really like this scale, my only niggle is the body fat measurement. I would like to call the company to see how they come up with the numbers for this feature, as they seem pretty far off to me. When I weighed today, it said I have a 7.4% body fat. I KNOW this is not true, as one of the best methods of measuring body fat is with calipers by someone who knows what they are doing. MANY years ago I had a 9% body fat (per caliper measurement) and I weighed a meager 125 lbs. (you can do this by living on cereal and PBJs and riding an ungodly amount of miles each day- not healthy, but when you're poor, it's what you have) I have not seen that number since the late 80's mid 90's, nor will I ever again. Though I'm in better shape and have more muscle today for sure, I know I do not have that low of body fat. No way. Our other scale that measures much of the same things as the Ozeri, tells me today that my body fat is 19%. THAT is much more believable to me. Not low as low as I'd like, but definitely more accurate, I believe. Just bear this measurement in mind and take it with a grain of salt as it's not the be all and end all measurement. (at least not for me)In closing, I have to COMPLETELY RECOMMEND THIS SCALE. It is super nice, well made, and except for the body fat % which is certainly not a big deal, I think it is spot on. Thank you Ozeri for making a really nice, USA-made product!!

Taking advantage of those trying to lose weight is wrong
I will start this rant by saying that the offer was given for a refund. Unfortunately, I'd have to pay extra to send it back to get that refund and I couldn't do this within a proper time frame as I went through financial hardship which prevented me from spending a lump sum to send this heavy object back overseas. With that said, listen to the bad reviews on this thing because like others who bought the product my didn't work properly when I opened it. I tried setting it up according to instructions and it stopped working completely. It's a waste of a huge sum of money I spent trying to get scales that worked for my level of weight (which was still within the weight limit advertised for these scales.) I tried to do the right thing by myself and lose weight and your crappy product took advantage of me through that process. Don't get this product.
